July 2010 Pantry/Freezer Challenge
Who will keep working on the clearing out this month?
Or will you be adding to the stockpile with the goodies from your garden?
I made a pretty good dent today......had kitchen duty and cooked up ton's of things. Some went back in freezer and some went in refrig. for eating over the weekend.

I started clearing out and re-organizing my pantry so I can see where I need to add things or get rid of stuff that's past it's expiration date. Can't wait to start adding to the freezer from the garden!

I'm still in particularly since I don't work in the summer. I'm already trying to be more creative in my menu planning. DH is pretty good about what he eats as long as meat is involved!

I'm definitely still in. Like FF, not looking to empty anything out. Taking stock of dates, rotation, replenishing as used as far as pantry. AM looking to clear out alot of the freezers. As they get emptier later will replenish to a degree but not like they are now.
Didn't clear anything out yesterday. Don't know about tonight yet.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Me too, nadine. I just hope it happens.
We have had a horribly wet and cool spring and I lost some plants so just having some tomatoes will be good at this point! Lost my watermelon and don't have a prayer for the cantaloupe but I haven't pulled them up yet. The peppers are still 'iffy' at best.........but you never know.

I used a pound of ground chuck hamburger buns from the freezer last night. Also opened another box of cereal from the pantry this morning.

During 'kitchen duty' day this last week I cooked up:
3 - one pound packages hamburger (various flavors)
a 3# ham
1 pound of sausage
2 chicken thighs
pesto pasta ---almost all gone.
and made banana nut muffins - almost all gone............whoot!
That put a dent in it........and no cooking for the next week or so!
Only part of the hamburger went back in the freezer, in snack bags, for future use. Some of the ham might too......but hasn't yet.

FF- I don't know if this counts or not since it's not from my garden, but I made 4 raisin bread custard breakfast casseroles tonight and stuck them in the freezer.
I found raisin bread on the discount day old rack for $1.14 a loaf and just knew I could make something good out of it.
Oh, and I made a batch of freezer biscuits yesterday.

I am also mostly re arranging. I am still eating things that have been in there way too long. I am also adding from the garden. So far we have mostly canned green beans and pickles, so I really need an empty shelf in the pantry. I am trying to keep the groceries below $120 (usually around $250).
In the last few days...
Freezer: steak, 3 packs of chicken, 2 packs of hot dogs (cook out), fish sticks, hashbrowns
Pantry: boxed potatoes, cheesy puffs
We also had lots of fresh salads2013 debts
mortgage: 80944.47(April 2009),75000 (left)
car approx. $9000
GOAL: to owe less than $4000 on car by the end of the year

I restocked my pantry 2 weeks ago. So now time to use the stuff up.
So far this week we used a 12 pack of hotdog rolls, 2 loaves of bread, sausage, hamburgers, 3 lbs of ground beef, sole.
Out of the pantry I used up 2 cans of tuna, boxes of poptarts.
