A breakthrough moment!!
After all these years......in truth I have only liked blueberries in pies, pancakes or muffins. I bought some recently because they were such a good deal and have been eating them with my cereal in the morning. Tonight I wanted something sweet after dinner and the only thing available was the basket of blueberries - so I tried one and then another - and it worked - they were just what I needed!!
I cannot tell you how happy this makes me - something I like and is good for me!!
If you haven't before - try them - you never know!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I love them but they are super expensive here. I only buy them fresh a couple times a year. I'd love to have a few plants.

I have 6 bushes in my yard. I left for my mountain cabin for 6 days, when I came back the birds had totally eaten every berry on my bushes... I don't have a dog to scare them away anymore, so it was feast time for them at my house!!!

Frugal Foster so sorry to hear that the birds ate your blueberry crop. Normally blueberries are really expensive here too, but found a few sales and froze them. Have made a couple of smoothies, but no one asks for the smoothies anymore and I do not want to bake muffins which the family would love in this hot weather. So, I will try thawing some out and eating them as my bedtime snack. Sounds like a great idea. Thank you Maui Magic.

I am not a fan of raw blueberries. Have you tried the Smitten Kitchen Blueberry bars? blueberry crumb bars | smitten kitchen
These are a favorite here . I don't use the lemon zest or the 'fresh squeezed lemon juice'. I use a bit of True Lemon in place of the zest and used lemon juice concentrate.McD

Blueberries is a super food and probably the most beneficial fruit you can eat. They are pricey though. I like them blended with chocolate Rice milk.

In the summer here we get the 2/4.00 a carton but less in quantity on certain case sales.. I freeze them in sandwich bags. We all eat them like mini popsicles. No need to defrost. Excellent health wise and keeps me away from real ice cream.
Congrats MM that will help keep the sugar down.

They are also supposed to help lower cholestrol...forgot about that.

Wonder if I'll ever see a price like that again? In any event they are definitely worth paying extra for - not all the time, but as a treat - Lord knows we all deserve a treat now and then!!
Mahalo for the different recipe ideas too - shall try them out when I get more on hand.

I usually don't buy them but I have this year. Have been eating them on my cereal but I put some in the freezer too.
They were on a 'decent' sale a couple weeks ago. I went twice....with my coupons......and bought some. They are pricey here too. They aren't one of my favorite berries but I eat them while telling myself they are good for me!! Too mild of taste for me.

I'm glad you liked them. I love them fresh but love them best frozen. I put them in a blender with cream and blend a bit. It is smooth and creamy and better than ice cream imo

~That's awesome MM! I was like you until last year when we went to a farm to pick organic blueberries. I decided to try one right off the tree and it was good!
They're not my favorite fruit or anything but eating them raw is so good for us!~~Constance

I love blueberries, but only wild ones, I can't stand those big fat ones that grow on bushes. They are expensive to buy, but luckily we can pick them here for free (although it's hard work).

I bought them fresh at Aldi today for 1.99 in those little small cartons. They will be gone in two days.
