Sept 2010 Pantry Freezer Challenge
I am losing ground fast with my freezer.
I am putting more in than I am taking out so I hope others are doing better.
Are you still clearing out or adding from the garden/farmer's markets??

I've added to the freezer because it was down to nothing and I always have to work on the pantry. I really need to take advantage of some stuff and cook up yummy things...but I'm in a funk with cooking and haven't been in the mood lately or felt creative.
Fall should change my mood though.

I am definitely in on this. My pantry is overflowing! I also have plenty of meat in my freezer, should last me a couple of weeks. I have been making soup and putting some single servings back in the freezer, but I haven't purchased anything. I have a bunch of oatmeal and dried cherries. I think I will make cookies tonight.

I am definitely in again this month. A friend just brought over 8 boxes of stuff, food, soap, hair dye, tons of stuff! So now my pantry is overflowing and if I don't get a handle on it I think it is going to take over.

I'm in again! We were gone a lot ths summer so I didn't make the dent I'd hoped for.It will still be a work in progress all though a slow one. The meal dynamics change when work starts. I need quick and easy meals. Meals can be more labor intensive when I'm not at work.

I'm definately in again. I've thinned the freezer out some, now I need to work on the pantry. I did use up 1 brownie mix and 1 cake mix from the pantry and 1 salmon from the freezer.

Twice in seven years my dh has done major grocery shopping for me and today was the second time.
I asked him because I just didn't feel like it and he took the kids with him. It was cute and he did good. You could tell what the kids asked for. lol They bought stuff I was trying to not buy anymore and boxed stuff, but that's okay! I was thankful.
So I will be working on the pantry some more.

Well, I can scrap this for the month.
My freezer is just full!!! I have been adding to it all summer when I found cheap produce.......or out of my own garden.
It is down to the fact that my freezer is now so full that I will have to can whatever I do with the green tomatoes.......that don't have a prayer of turning color. Guess I will make green tomato jam.
I will continue to work on both and have made a little progress with the pantry.

Well I'm going to try.....I have my freezer half empty...at least I can fit things into it, if I so decided to buy anything that goes in the freezer....I do have some lost treasures at the bottom of the freezer that I am going to have to throw out
.....Stuff that I forgot I had...and just kept piling stuff on top of....not to work on my pantry...I have a ton of canned goods and boxed pastas, and beans and rice...that I need to start using and dwindle down before I add more to the rotation....

I've used chicken, sausage, bologna from the freezer. I've used pasta sauce, cake mix, canola oil and a pasta side dish from the pantry.

I had to laugh at this.... my hubby has shopped for me about the same amount.... you can tell when I send him to the store. He doesen't buy chips, or candy or munchies... just tons and tons of meat!!
lol
(and that was even before I was veg - he's so "meat deprived" now, I don't dare send him to the store!!) lol

I really need to get working on tihs challenge, my neighbour brought over 15 lbs of green beans from her garden yesterday. That was her extras she already processed enough for her family for the year!! Then after dinner her dh stopped by he had been helping a friend cut and wrap a side of beef. The guy paid him and gave him a cooler full of meat too. The neighbour and her dh had bought a side of beef this year so their freezer is already full so they gave us the cooler full of meat too.
This week we have used the following

-4 cans fruit cocktail
-2 cans tomato sauce
-3 cans diced tomatoes
-hamburger meat
-4 boxes crackers
-bottle of chocolate sauce
-box of microwave popcorn
-can of tomato soup
