Ok, here is the recipe Frugal Fanny. The rolling out part doesn't have to be perfect, you just make little packets and pinch them at the top. I usually just end up foldiing it together and squishing it all together! LOL They definitely don't look pretty, but oh so yummy.

    Apple Dumplings

    1 1/4 cups of sugar
    2 cups of water
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/4 cup of butter
    6 apples or more
    2 cups flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    2/3 cp butter
    6 tablespoons cream

Combine sugar, water and cinnamon, cook 5 minutes, then add butter, set aside.

    Peel, core and slice apples.

Sift flour and salt in a mixing bowl. Cut in butter, add cream a tablespoon at a time, mix and press together. You can roll out the dough in one big piece or I just cut it in to six pieces and roll each one separately.

Place sliced apples on square of pastry, sprinkle with additional cinnamon and sugar and dot with butter. Fold corners and pinch edges. Put extra apples on the botton of the dish and put dumplings on top. Pour sauce over. Bake at 375 for approx. 35 minutes.

That's it, pretty simple. We eat ours in a bowl with milk over it. Enjoy!

Thanks tervs.........I can handle this 'dough thing'.......I think. (I usually don't do any kind of 'roll dough' stuff)

Hugs to you for taking the time to post it.......and I like that it is in pieces and even more apples in the pan.

This sounds like it is a 'just gotta have CREAM' on it..........be it whipped or just 1/2 and 1/2...........not that milk stuff.

    Sounds YUMMY.................

I think my grandmother always served it with cream, I don't keep it in the house, so milk works for me.
