    Default April Freezer/Pantry Challenge

What are you doing this month? Stocking up? Using up what you have to make room for incoming goodies?

I am going to join you fellow villagers this month.
DH and I have changed our budgeting this month and are trying something new.
The new budget has $200 for groceries but I want to try and keep it below $120. $20 of that will go into the toiletries catagory. So only $25 week for food for 4 people.
So I need to start using up what I have and make room for veggies in the freezer when harvest time come from the garden.

I'm going to use up some of the older stuff in my freezer. I have a few things in there that I suspect are like 2 years old (or more).... Need to use them up!

However, I am simultaneously increasing my stockpile of food for my pantry. I'm in the process of building up 6-12 months worth of food to tide us over in case we get furloughs at my workplace this year (high probability).

I have a deep freezer FULL of meat that I need to start using. Starting today I'm going to start using what I have and actually keeping track of my grocery purchases to see how much I spend this month.

I am going to join this month. My freezer is full which is a good thing but i have no more room to freeze items. So while i am making room in my freezer i am still stockpiling canned goods. Someday i would love a small chest freezer

I want to eat down my freezers. Then I'm going to defrost/clean them and start refilling with summer deals.

Nothing is coming out today. I have a chicken that I got on deal in the crockpot. I'm going to go have a look in there and plan the next few days.

I just used some ground meat from the freezer I had gotten marked down, a scoop of queso from the fridge and some leftover corn. I do use hamburger helper unlike some around here so I added it and extra pasta to a "cheeseburger pasta".

I am planning on using some of the older items in my freezer. My pantry is looking pretty good.

Today, used up another bag of shredded turkey that I bought in November.
I also used up one of the free Philadelphia creams.

I'm planning on using what I have on hand in addition to stocking up my pantry and freezer with an eye on the summer months when I'm on vacation from my school job. Did my big April shopping trip today and posted about it in the meal planning forum.

I will be getting more things than usual at CVS and Walgreen's sometime this week. Did some warehouse shopping today. The pets got stocked up, but we didn't stock up too much on foods except for the dairy aisle. Always great prices there. Will do a light shopping this month as we have some bills that were unexpected due this month and next too.

our power went out for 19 hours! This helped me clear out my refrigerator. Thankfully none of my regular freezer or extra freezer items went bad. I had to throw out all the leftovers, milk, juice, mayo, yogurt, and a few other things.

I also used up some chicken the night before.
