Food stamp challenge
Another list I'm on did this-- was thinking I need to do this for my family and see how we do (we actually spend less than the allotment, but don't eat heart healthy)
Here are the maximum allotments per week based on number of family
members.
It was calculated from the data at
http://www.fns.usda.gov/fsp/applican...TMENTCHART.HTM
using the following formula
MMA/31 x 7 = weekly amount
Number of people Amount for week
1 $ 33.65
2 61.87
3 88.74
4 112.68
5 133.68
6 160.65
7 177.48
8 202.77
Each additional person +25.29
So here's the challenge:
From Sunday, December 26 to Saturday, January 1, eat within the limits of the food stamp allotment. If you are the sole participant in the challenge, that would be $33.65 for the week. If other members of your family are participating see the chart below. Aim for somewhere between a moderately well balanced healthy diet to extremely heart healthy.
I'm going to assume a clean slate start-- as in, no stored foods, no prepuchased spices, condiments, etc. Many food stamp recipeints wouldn't have access to those-- so I'll assume none here either.
