    Default Help with posting freebies

I have read recently that there is a high rate of false websites offering freebies because there has been an increase of people requesting freebies more than ever before and these people know it.

You have to remember that sometimes when they post a false freebie website, it isn't just for your email address nowadays like it was before but it's also for Phishing, Pharming and or crimeware. Now as many freebies as I have done over the many years I have done them, most places just want your email addy if they aren't going to send you a freebie, that's it, they are just scammers, I try my hardest to check to see if it's a legit site before sending for the freebie or posting it, but even I am not perfect

I will post a list of places that we probably shouldn't post from for they are known scammers, for whatever reason. But like I said, most do just want your email addy and it won't stop me from requesting freebies, I just make sure I try to post legit sites when I can. I also make sure I run my anti virus which also detects phishing once a week.

Example of when I check the domain a legit one would come up like this:

    Domain Name: lacoste-parfums.com

Created on..............: Thu, Nov 04, 2004
Expires on..............: Thu, Nov 04, 2010
Record last updated on..: Fri, Oct 31, 2008

    Administrative Contact:
    Procter & Gamble
    Domain Admin
    2 Procter & Gamble Plaza
    Cincinnati, OH 45202
    US
    Phone: 001-513-9459168
    Email: piregistrar.im@pg.com

    Technical Contact:
    Procter & Gamble
    Domain Admin
    2 Procter & Gamble Plaza

Etc, etc but Procter & Gamble as you know is a legit company

Now one that was posted that is not a legit site:

It doesn't matter what freebie it is, it's already posted and done but the name of the site does not match the domain name:

    OrgName: GoDaddy.com, Inc.
    OrgID: GODAD

We haven't recently had a post for a freebie from Godaddy.com so it's a spam site. Which you know they just want your email addy.

If you look on the bottom of the page for the site and if they are giving away say like Crest toothpaste but the name is like JaneDoe than it's probably not legit. But places like walmart, startsampling etc, are legit places and shouldn't have to be looked up.

I just wanted to make you aware of it's more that just coping something from a freebie website that you see, because if they don't know it's not legit then how would you unless you look it up. Some just send off bad vibes, some things just don't look right, so those are the ones that you should look up.

Again, I am only posting this because it's a more involved nowadays than what it was just a couple of years ago, and there are some sources who are advising about the increase of fake freebie sites, but there are still many, many legit and good sites out there

Instead of posting each one seperately perhaps consolidate. There are at least 5 posts for stuff right now.

Perhaps you should condense your challenges together in the self image and lose a pound challenges, have you counted how many challenges are there right now?

It was a long day, it was late. I'm sorry for being rude. We'll move along.

    I need to add

    Tipnut.com

They have a site, and it looked pretty good but then I found it's a go daddy site, when they send you to blog sites for patterns for swiffer patterns, come to find out now there are certain blogs out there that are also now phising sites and this site Tipnut, doesn't even ask for your email to get the patterns, so that's what this looks like

FWIW, I like having each freebie posted separately (and have done so in the past myself), mostly because I only check out specific ones. I'd probably miss some that would interest me if they were all in one thread.

Apology accepted and I stand corrected. I have been in better moods too. I noticed it wasn't all your posting after I said it. So apology offered too.

But english.......I have a couple pattern sites that I have used for years and they don't ask for your email first. In fact, many of the fabric manufacturers don't ask for any sort of email and most of them have patterns. Sure about tipnut?

I have used tipnut for at least a year and have not had any problems with it. I get a daily log from them and have accessed many patterns and ideas from there with out a problem. Could it be that the owner just bought the domain name from Go Daddy. You can buy names from Go Daddy without being a phishing site.
