Frugal Friday, 12/3/10
YAY, Happy Friday!!!
I woke up at 5:30 (grrr) and couldn't go back to sleep, so that's never fun. So now I'm ready and currently fighting with the woodstove. It's gonna be a close fight, but I think I'm going to come out victorious!!
It rained last night. Super. On top of already snowy roads. So I will be leaving earlier this morning to get to where we need to be today. Hopefully the crews have been busy on the interstate sanding.
Today is work for me. I need to try and do a little Christmas shopping over my lunch break, but I need to look at my list before I go crazy. It seems I always have 100 ideas for one child and then 2 for another.
I am leaving work early to help in my ds' class for fitness testing for gym. Should be interesting, if nothing else! I do enjoy volunteering in the classroom when I can.
Tonight is a NO ACTIVITIES night! Hooray! I am thinking that we will pull out some games and have some good ol' fashioned fun!
Have a great Friday, everyone!

Off to a slow start today! Day off from work and guess who slept late....I do so enjoy my sleep.....
But now starting to gear up for a busy day. I need to get the house cleaned and the Christmas decorations in place. I hope this will spur hubby to get in the mood and put up the Christmas tree this weekend. I love my holiday lights.
I also think that I will enjoy a glass of wine this evening and start to write out my Christmas cards. I am not sending as many as in the past but I want to give the gift of a heartfelt message in the ones that I do choose to send.
We will have leftover turkey pot pie and a salad for dinner so I dont need to spend time in the kitchen today which is a plus. But I really do need to plan my holiday baking and associated grocery list. The stockpile is low on baking items as I have not wanted to bake much in the last year. But suddenly the urge has hit....oh no! LOL
If I can get this done, I will work on being content that something was accomplished. I have a bad habit of making a plan or list that would be impossible for super woman to get done in 1 day. Happy Friday!

Hope your evening is relaxing Vanessa!
Like the quality over quantity with your cards Mamaw.
Just sitting here listening to Pandora, love that site. I've got a mix of stations on :Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Rob Thomas, Daughtry, Diana Krall. Coldplay was just on, now it's Nora Jones. Quite the mix.
Quiet morning here, did a little online shopping & ordered something for ds. Love letting my fingers do the walking and stay out of the malls. With coupon codes and free shipping it's pretty much no stress.
I also use my cash back bonus from my credit card and most of Christmas is covered. Woot!
Off to the docs this afternoon to get my stitches out. It'll be nice when I don't mention that toe to you anymore.
Soon. Promise.
Not much else to say, lol.
Stay warm Daddy-o's.~*Darlene*~

~Sooooo glad it's Friday!
Today:
homeschooling, closing out the November finance records(anxious to see how much I saved this month over last month by eating out of the freezer), making faux maple syrup, homemade pizza night, moving furniture around in our bedroom to replace the bassinet with Faira's new crib(free by voucher from a recalled crib), ordering pictures online, checking the online circulars and making a shopping list, eating leftover soup for lunch, heat set at 65* and watching "free" shows streaming on Netflix.
Just a typical frugal day at home.

It's a little nippy this morning but it is supposed to warm up and the sun is shining.I have been to the gym, did all the pet chores and have plenty of wood brought up for the fireplaces. I am going to set up the buffet table and finish the last minute details for our Christmas party tonight. Hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

Believe it or not, it is a little nippy here too - not quite jacket weather though.
Today the preschoolers are going to decorate (marble painting) paper to use as wrapping paper for a baby shower here at school this afternoon.
Cleaning up the LR to get ready for the next holiday list to attack!! Will be making a pillow pattern for a friend first off, then see what pops up as the next most important thing to do!!
Have a great Friday everyone!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Afternoon ladies. So Maui are you saying it's like 70 degrees there? Brrrr.
JK. It's only 29 here but the sun is out and we have plastic up to the windows so the sun is keeping it pretty heated in here. I'm not doing anything today. I don't have anything to do except read and visit you all.Yay! I may call my DSL provider(Verizon/Frontier) though if this so called high speed doesn't stop acting like dial-up. It has been really slow this whole week. DH is to the point he wants to do away with them and pay the bucks for HughesNet. Meanwhile I'm reading chapters in my Bible while I wait for the pages to load. Dinner will be a quick and cheap boxed spaghetti dinner. Dishes, sweep kitchen, see if any good Christmas cartoons are on tonight, and do some more reading. I'll be wondering how Darlene's foot is doing too.
Have a great start to your weekend and I'll see you here tomorrow at this rate.
