    Default Frugal Friday - Sept 30th, 2011

    HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!

I certainly hope the weather is nicer where you are (it's grey and rainy here which I normally don't mind but keeps putting off my plans to repaint my window trim!).

I don't have much in the way of plans for the day. I want to figure out what I can put in my toilet tanks to lower the amount of water they use (my house has old toilets, I'm sure the sea level dips when I flush!!). I've heard some people say to put bricks in the tank but gosh, I'm fresh out of bricks right now and need to find an alternative!! lol I have to go pick up a turkey at a store that has them on sale right now (Canadian Thanksgiving is in October). I also have tons of laundry to do but I'm hoping to put that off until tonight/tomorrow when the off-peak electricity rates apply.

My friends want to go out tonight but seeing as how I'm trying to watch what I eat AND I'm trying to be careful of what I spend, heading to the bar for the night seems unwise. I don't want to be anti-social though (I haven't been spending much time with my friends lately due to my work schedule/budget) so I might offer to be the designated driver...I'll still get to go out but I'll have an excuse to avoid the booze!

    Have a great day!
I want to kill my mortgage! 192,391/197,370 (since July 2011)

I'm attempting to live by the principles of The Compact in 2012. Wish me luck!

    2012 Financial goals
    • make an extra $15k over and above any flying pay (1705/15000)
    • pay an extra $1750 off my mortgage (557/1750)
    • bring EF back to $10k - $3533 left to save
    • avoid lifestyle inflation
    • improve investment plan (change accounts) - *grumble grumble* Bank made a mistake, need to re-do paperwork

    The Financial Goals I've achieved:
increased RSP contribution to $300/mth, posted budget on FV for review, saved $1600 to go on vacation

    Good morning!
@frugal.lass- Some people put milk jugs filled with water in their toilet tanks to help with the water level. Free if you have the jug! Sounds like you have a busy day planned!

As for our weather in Montana, it will be unseasonably hot hot hot! High of 88. We should be wearing sweaters and sipping hot cider at this point. Weird. I can't believe it's almost October, and I'm sending my kids to school in shorts. Where are we, Florida??

Today is work for me and school for the kidlets. However it's my co-worker/amazing friend's birthday, so it should be a lot more fun. She doesn't have a lot of money, so we try and spoil her the best we can. I made her a candy bouquet, which has been our running joke for several months now. And I'm in charge of picking up coffee this morning for us ladies. Kind of excited!

And, drumroll, please!! I turned into an adult this morning. This month was a 3 pay period month for me, and I took my whole paycheck and applied it toward a credit card. Holy cow! In all my 35 years I have NEVER done that. Now before we get excited about me growing up, I should probably 'fess up and tell you I had a candy bar for breakfast. Baby steps, people, baby steps... te hee

    Have a great day!

Today is going to be a not-so-frugal Friday for me. But, I've known that today was going to be a spend day all week. I grabbed a latte with one of my friends/colleagues before our meeting this morning (which we had planned all week, so I made an effort to not purchase any coffee earlier in the week).

I am getting my nails done with another friend/colleague over lunch (again, another planned outing).

Tonight, DBF and I are meeting a group of friends for dinner. That will be coming out of our joint account - since it is a joint purchase. I also made an effort to not eat out all week knowing that tonight we were going out - so I have made all my meals all week.

So, not-so-frugal today. Although, I am trying to limit the cost of each event: small latte this morning, only pedicure or manicure - I haven't decided which one yet, and the place we are eating at tonight is a diner - which shouldn't be too expensive.

Enough about that - I also need to work today, would like to try and go for a run after work, and will be making my breakfast & lunch meals today.

    Have a nice Friday, everybody!

Have the windows open. First day in a long time that it is not humid outside and raining. Went to an appointment and then for a walk. Need to get ready for tomorrow morning. Then finish some work I have going on here.
