Default Frugal Friday - Jan 6/12

Today - ran a few errands after prepping DH's food & coffee and dropping him off at work. Tidied up lv rm, ran the Roomba, gathered up laundry to be washed...debating on bucking the system and washing it during the day *during the peak hydro rates * and am planning on making banana bread using up the last of the suffering bananas.

Not sure whats for dinner yet either

What are you up to today?

Today, so far, I called AT&T and canceled the home phone. The bad news is we could upgrade our internet speed from express to pro for $15 a month more and dang it I did it because we are big internet, gamer, and netflix watchers so our "enertainments are important to us. I do get $5 off the first 3 months so while I didn't get the savings I wanted ($35) I did get some ($20ish) and I got better net.

I saved about $1 by using my k cup filter instead of buying k cups. A pain but it is .50 a cup of coffee on average and I always have 2 coffees in the morning and usually one in the evening.($30 to $45 dollar a month savings as my coffee can was bought on sale and with a coupon)

Did the laundry, picked up the house. Placed all cans, plastic and paper in recycle and have cut down on 2 large plastic bags a week!

Turned down the heat. It is plenty warm today even if it is grey out there!

Worked on the budget fine tuning and looking for savings. Did okay, not great, but okay. You reach a point where there isn't any fat left to cut...

Going to work on my stockpile/price book today. What a huge job it is!

Started the declutter one item a year challenge here in the village and am off to a great start! Even I can do this challenge lol!

I planned my menus for the month so tonight we are having sloppy joes and fries only with ground turkey to save some money.

Had lunch out with hubby- used a gift card that we won during a Chinese auction at Christmas... It was so yummy..
Stopped by the pet store and bought the BIG bag of dog food, a pain to carry, but much cheaper that way.
Then we headed over to Goodwill. DH will be spending some time this coming week bring applications and resumes to businesses so he needed something presentable. Not a shirt and tie, but nicer than jeans and a hoodie. Spent $40 on a nice pair of LL Bean pants, four button down shirts, two of which are fleece lined and two pairs of sweatpants/pajama pants. He has been down to just one lately since he's owned the other ones so long that the crotch areas just gave out Now we are home.. he's cleaning and organizing the basement and I'm going through bureaus and closets looking for things that need to be donated..

I ran to CVS to use the $2 extra bucks my brother got and he doesn't know why....he was going to trash it!! He is leaving tmr. so I grabbed it and his card and got two cute little mitten gc holders with a small bottle of hand lotion for $2.50. Then ran to Target and picked up two bottle of vitamins @1.39 each and a bunch of Xmas bags at 90% off...Went to Wags looking for fish oil but all the pills are huge and hubby can't swallow them so I picked up 4 little bottles of shampoo to donate to nursing homes. Brother is leaving tmr for home. He has been here for 4 months!!! Tmr. will be busy getting my guest room back in order....love him but super glad to see him go...
