Default Moms of all-boys or all-girls families

Those of you who have some of both (boys and girls) know that you go through just about EVERYTHING quickly --food, H&B items, paper products.....

But those of you who have (or had) all boys, or all girls-----what are the items you find you are always out of, or the kids just DON'T seem to 'get' the idea of making them last and not being wasteful?

My sister had 3 girls (raised now) and she said her girls would just take the shampoo and conditioner and SQUEEEEEEZE a huge ton of it in their hand...way more than needed for washing their hair. AND she said the TP situation was a constant problem, since girls use TP every bathroom visit and she had to yell about them taking the roll and yanking a huge wad off.

I had 2 boys (raised now) and they hardly used any shampoo or TP. BUT--the FOOD! When they got into Jr high and HS and playing a sport ---(or NOT even)........those boys ATE. To give you an idea of what they could pack away--they are now 6'2" and 6'6". We spent big on food. I tried, but it used to make me feel like .

What are your biggest expenses/crazy-usage because you have all boys or all girls?

We have 2 boys and we have the same situation that you do! No problems with soap, shampoo or TP...but food is ridiculous! Mine are only 4 & almost 7, and they can already eat DH and I under the table, it is crazy. I don't even want to think about what it will be like when they are teens!

The other thing we go through is shoes & jeans! We seem to go through them sooooo much faster than my friend with all girls does. My boys are rough and tumble, so they constantly are tearing the knees out of their jeans. Plus, they ride their bikes and stop with the tips of their sneakers instead of the brakes and wear holes in them! I don't know if that is becuase they are boys, or just becuase they play outside constantly...but it drives me nutso!

Well, I have 2 girls and a boy and it's the girls who can eat us out of house and home. Especially the 12 year old and she's a bean pole!

By boys are only 10 and 6 and they already eat more than I do. Especially the 6yo. He's CONSTANTLY eating. I don't know where he puts it. He's not even 50lbs! They also go through pants & shoes like MAD. The 6yo is constantly ripping the knees on his jeans, even Levi's! And both of them are constantly busting through the toes on their shoes. They've each had THREE pairs of sneakers so far this school year.

I'm afraid for when they get to be teenagers.

My girls (teens) go through a lot of yogurt and milk. Fine by me, I guess. It could be worse...like soda & chips. Although, I'm sure if I kept those in the house in the same quantities I keep milk & yogurt they would be snacking on that I don't buy it so it doesn't get eaten.

elphaba--one of my sister's girls could pack away the groceries pretty well. But she was her always-outside-playing kid, kinda tomboy. I guess the fresh air and exercise gave her an appetite.

When my sons were teens, and came home from after-school football practice, they would go directly to the kitchen, and I SWEAR it looked like a swarm of locusts went through!

It was just picked CLEAN. Pantry, fridge, countertops. And then a couple of hours later, they'd sit down and eat a huge dinner. I had to hide stuff in my 'special hiding places'.

Boys here ..... almost 12 and 9. The 11 year old is wearing my jeans from when I got married (the ones your going to fit back into..ya right). He's bigger than me and the 9 year old is only an inch away.

    FOOD.....FOOD.....FOOD!!!!!

and shoes. They wear them out even before they out grow them and the 11 year old wears a mens 11

We're short italians on my side and DH at 5'6 is tall for his family. Not sure where they're getting it from.

2 boys here 19 and 16 and yes its the food, and the jeans and the sneakers.

The reason boys dont use alot of soap and shampoo is because they stand under the shower and dont soap up. Ever smell a 16 yr old????

All girls here (and still little). We go through a lot of shoes, my oldest had fast growing feet and we went through 4 sizes in 3 months last summer. The middle one is a little slower growing so she's actually wearing out shoes and the baby doesn't need them yet....

My oldest is actually VERY rough on her clothes, but it's kinda strange since she's the "girly" one. Our rough and tumble middle girl is actually very good to her clothes.

I'm sure we'll go through the shampoo/conditioner especially since we don't cut our hair (mine goes to mid-thigh) and Dh's and my families both have very thick hair. I do use a palmful of the stuff, but it's because I need to or I can't comb through my hair after washing it. Luckily, with coupons it's something I regularly get for free.

We also go through lotion really fast. My girls have skin like me that gets very dry, so I go through a big bottle of lotion every month almost.

I had only boys for several years before going to china.
Anyway, yep, another vote for shoes, clothes, pencils, and unfortunately: eye glasses.

I WISH they went thru soap, shampoo and toothpaste faster!
