Default $.23 pizza not such a frugal idea afterall

For those that haven't heard Papa Johns insulted the Caveliers with some t-shirts they gave to the opposing teams fans. This was a week or so ago. To make up they were offering $.23 pizzas today only. Lebron James wears #23 I believe. From I have read they didn't think that many people would take advantage of it. Are you kidding me? Of course every location has lines forever long and the wait is 3.5 hours for a pizza!

We had wanted to get one for dinner tonight. Dh needed to mail something in the same plaza as the papa johns so we thought he would stop by afterwards and get the pizza. he did and he waited in line for 45 minutes. He placed his order and was told it would be 3.5 hours. We were prepared for this. Ds had a baseball game that would be ending about the time the pizza would be ready, so we thought they could swing by on their way home and pick it up. Too late for our dinner, but we would eat it for lunch tomorrow.

They get to the game, on the other side of town, to find out it was canceled. The coach didn't even know it had been canceled. So now our plan doesn't work out so well. Not only did dh spend a lot of time in line to order the pizza, now we have to make an extra outing to go get the pizza. I am contemplating just not going to pick it up, is that awful? The place is about 8 minutes from our house. What does everyone else think? It turns out it wasn't such a great idea for us afterall.

I'm sure someone will be grateful if you don't pick it up as it will then be their pizza. They'll have no problem getting rid of it with orders like that. Don't worry about it.

I'd let my husband decide. If he waited in line for 45 minutes and then I told him forget it.....well ...he wouldn't be happy.... enough said I think.

could you call and cancel your order? with it only being 8 minutes from your house, I'd be inclined to go get it - but that's just me. We like pizza!

the reason I was thinking about forgetting it, was because he seemed so bothered by having to go back out. I had to take the kids to choir and it was in his name, so it had to be him picking it up. Anyway, he is there now getting it. I do wonder if it was ready on time though. Thanks everyone. next time though, we will seriously consider whether it is worth our time. When we started the process, we didn't think it would take long at all. How wrong we were!

I am in NE Ohio as well, and tried all day long to get through to PJ's by phone. I could not until 5 pm, when I was leaving the grocery store. I got a recording that said the store was closed! HA!

So we drove by, and there were easily 50-75 people in line, with traffic causing near accidents! We just continued on home.

My husband said that some Akron stores actually closed, because people in line were getting in fist-fights! Good grief, people!

Hmm, considering a med. 1top PJ pizza is $5 anyday here, that is a savings of 4.77, and having to wait/spend 4 hours of my own time. No thanks!

I agree, my time is worth more than their pizza.

I have a friend that is a manager at Papa Johns. He said that yesterday he ran out of product by 5pm, and that it was complete mayhem there yesterday. They had to have an off duty officer there to control the crowd too.

    CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!
