Specials for good customers?
I have been a good customer of Directv for many years but the only specials are for new customers. Same goes for phone companies. Why don't good customers get rewarded? Does anyone know how to get better deals from an older company?
I am going to call Directv and see if they will offer me some kind of a deal like they do for new customers. They will most likely say no. But I gotta try.

my sister has direct TV and sometimes they give her pay channels like HBO, SHOtime for 5.00 per month for 3 months, only catch, you have to call to cancel, forget by even one day and your charged for the next month.

I did the same thing. We had an old system and I called and told them that I would have to have it all rewired and wanted to see what kind of deal they could give me, since I had been with them for 10 plus years. They rewired and gave me all new boxes (but they have to be returned to them, when we are done) and one TIvo. Then 6 months later they offered me another tivo for 21.00 the only catch was the year committment.. It never hurts to ask

My only problem is I own my receiver so I don't want to change anything where I have to lease equipment from them.

If regular customer service won't help you, I would think your best bet would be to speak to a customer retention person. Tell them you are considering taking your business elsewhere since new customers are getting better deals and I'd think you'd get the discount.

Because it's not us they are trying to get, they already have us
! I have thought of doing the same thing with my cable/internet company...only problem is if they said no I don't think I'd really be willing to switch/cancel...

It never hurts to ask. I've been doing this with Comcast for a while now. They offer the high speed internet for 29.95 for the first 6 months, then it goes up to 50 dollars. Every 6 months I call to cancel and they ask what they can do to keep my business, and I ask what deal I can get on the price. They lower it back to 29.95. I've been doing this for nearly 5 years now.

i have directv too and my parents bought me a DVR at best buy
directv TELLS me that i do not own that DVR that i rent it and when i plugged it in i agreed to a 2 year committment..i have gone all the way to corporate on that one and havent gotten anywhere with them..
i signed up with verizon the bundle package but i have to keep paying the directv bill before my verizon bill is due until they set it up which they dont know when that will happen and seeing as i had to buy tires last week the directv bill will be late and the bundle package wont happen until i make 2 months on time back to back
dont ya just love'em

When we receive a flyer in the mail for another company like Dish Network, we call them to see if they can match the offer. We have never have anyone refuse because they want to keep our business. We have had them for over 10+ years. We have received 6 months of free showtime, HBO, etc. by doing this. We also have received free local channels for a year. They would rather keep your business then lose it to competition. It never hurts to ask to see if they would price match.
