For me, it's her story "They Call Me The Frugal Zealot". I have read those two and a half pages countless times...getting motivated to do better with our money. It's inspiring to see how much they accomplished on a small income.
How much we enjoy what we have is more important than how much we have. Life is full of people who have more than they know what to do with, but cannot be content. It is the capacity to enjoy life that brings contentment.---Unknown

For me, it keeps me motivated to stay frugal.
I notice if I don't read it for awhile, I tend to slip off the frugal wagon.

To me it would be to start thinking differently. If I don't have a certain item/product, to not go out and buy one but to think of another way to get the results I want. To "think outside the box" is what it's called I think!

Back on Track
When I begin to spend too much or get off track, rereading this book immediately inspires me to save, use it up or wear it out. The Christmas section especially is helpful. It made me realize the budgeting on spending and especially home made gifts are the way for me to go.

My birthday is coming up in a couple months & although I'm reading this book from the library I've told my parnets that I would love this book for my birthday! There are so many great recipes and ideas. I learn something new each time I pick it up. I'm now finding myself get excited when I save money lol. I learned that milk is 40€ cheaper at a convience store than at a grocery store (shocked me). I just think she's great. I only wish I had known about that book when me and my husband first got together .. we could have been so much further ahead. I can't change time back, but I can use her ideas going ahead. I think of things like takeout in a whole different way. We got pizza the other night and the first thing my son said to me was Mommy I like your homemade pizza much better. Made me feel like a million bucks.

It made me think "can I make it myself?" And, is there a cheaper way. And how can I reuse this. I made the most delightful Halloween costume for our son and TWG gave me some inspiration there.

~I think, for me, it's Amy herself. She's like a trusted friend who urges you to think it through and do it yourself. I appreciate that she didn't glamourize or turn her experiences into highbrow literature.~

Yes!! I completely feel this way!! Even just glancing up and looking at them on my bookshelf makes a difference in my willingness to be frugal.

Getting specific... I guess I'd narrow it down to:
...her garage saling tactics, her tactics for organizing clothes in boxes by size so you always have back ups (we don't have kids, but I do this with "extras" of our clothes so we have plenty of back ups of office clothes, socks, pj's, work out clothes, etc...I just pick things up when they're on sale and then we always have things on hand).
I like *some* of her recipes, but some I don't care for...
I think many of her holiday plans are GREAT!!
There's just too much good stuff to list!
She must have had some impact on me...cause my family and friends call me "the frugal zealot wanna be".
Hey, I aspire to her frugalness...

I was just lucky enough to get the first volume free on bookmooch!! I haven't read it all yet, but what I get out of the book is so far is motivation to think differently, more creatively when it comes to how to re-use items, something I do often anyway. I even started saving the plastic bread bags and others, they always come in handy for something.
