YIkes! Property assessment
We just received our property assessment. Taxes went up approx $300. Not bad, not good. But I'm laughing.
Property assessed at 229500 last year.
This year.................381500 !!!!
I guess we could do a re-assessment, but the house is now completely finished so it would be valued higher..lol

That is totally hysterical!!
I'm told... You can ask for an abatement - but in a nutty shell you can't fight city hall... They need x dollars to spend at the leisure. and so.. if house prices go down... the $ per thousand goes up.
tit for tat.

Do you believe it is a fair assessment? What did the bank assess it at? I would not let it go if you think it is too high. They tried to assess my parents new log home at $90,000 over what the bank assessor did. It makes a big difference as time goes on.

That's a great assesment but does seem a bit high for only a year later, I would get a 2nd opinion BUT if you feel that's what it's worth than that's great.
