    Default HELP!!! My Freezer quit!!!

My son casually tells me a bit ago that there was water around the freezer so I frantically run down and check and everything is thawing! It sounds like it is running but it isn't cooling. I was able to get most of the meat up to the other freezer but there is a ton of eggos, bagels and other frozen meals that I can't fit. What is lost??? Is it all gone or is it possible to save any of it?
This freezer is only a couple months old and my DH is on phone with purchase store but what can I do now???
All that food spoiling makes me want to weep!

Go get some dry ice if available, if not regular ice and if stuff is that thawed start cooking. You can re-freeze after cooking.

So, cook all of the frozen vegetables? The frozen meals were already cooked...cook them again or can I refreeze them?

Were they still cold at all? I'd just hurry up and start cooking, and then throw lots of bags of ice on top of the rest then DONT OPEN THE FREEZER :surprise: If you can at least keep it reasonbly cold then you should be able to salvage some of it, but if it looks ooky just throw it out. I have the same fear of my freezer doing this, 24 cf and crammed full:surprise: You may also want to invest 10 bucks for a freezer alarm

The veges are still cold....but then what do I do with all of it once it is cooked? They told hubby that they do not send out people on weekends so no one will be out to repair until MONDAY. They did say to take pictures and they would give a food replacement allowance. I didn't know you could buy a seperate freezer alarm...I knew that some of the more expensive ones came with them but not that you could buy your own. I will go get one now though!!! What a mess. I was so happy each time I would find a food bargain and put it in there but this is not fun.

Have "Somea" for dinner... some-a this... some-a that...

Whatever you didn't have room for... cook up. If you have massive amounts you couldn't fit and way too much to eat tonight, then you may have to chuck it...

BUT... and I am speaking from experience here...

The warranty on the fridge will cover food loss...whatever you have to toss, write down, with the amounts and the cost to replace it... so say... 5 lbs. ground beef -- $10 ... DON'T write what you PAID, because chances are, you bought it on sale... write what it will cost if you walked in to the store TODAY!

Our fridge keeled over, and the warranty covers food loss up to $250.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!
