After much looking (two years' worth), my husband and I are in the final stages of negotiating to purchase a house is a GREAT area right down the street from his workplace.

If we can come to an agreement, we will be able to get rid of our second car, because we will be in the midst of a very walkable area (parks, library, schools, work, restaurants, shopping, etc.) As a child of the suburbs, I can hardly even imagine it!

We've countered several times over the past couple of weeks, and this morning we are placing our highest and final offer. We are crossing our fingers & toes that our offer will be enough, and anxiously wait for a response.

It is really exciting and nerve-wracking! And, on top of all the house stuff, my spouse is doing first-tier interviews for a promotion today. I'm about to come undone with all the prospective life changes.

Great news! Our best & final offer was accepted, we are officially under contract, and we are very excited about moving into our new house at the end of June. Thanks for all the good thoughts.

The interviews went well for my husband. He has one more first-tier phone interview early next week, and he's feeling confident about making it to the second series (they'll be a total of three). We're crossing our fingers, because it would be a really nice step up for him.

We drove up to the house last night and had a picnic at the park to celebrate with the kids. We have a LOT of work to do over the next couple of months to prepare for moving in late July.

For the last two years, we've been renting a house after a long-distance relocation while we figured out where we wanted to live. This neighborhood has everything that we consider important.

The best part of this move is that we'll is in a much more walkable neighborhood than our current one. Our biggest goal has been to create a smaller, greener life for family, and this is a giant step in the right direction!

Thanks for all of your good thoughts. Now...if only the moving fairies would arrive and get all of this work done!
