    Default opened new bank account

Well we've been with our credit union for a few years now, but lately it seems like we've been giving them a whole heck of a lot of our money. We pay $4.50 a month and that includes checks and everything. The first 6 atm or pos transactions are free, after that they are $1 each. We've been tending to use our debit card for gas lately so the fees have been crazy. I think we gave them at least $10 of our money this month in these fees.

Well there was another credit union locally that was advertising their free checking with 3% interest on it. So dh went and set up an account and I will have to go down on Monday and sign my paperwork. There is free online bill pay and everything. The only thing we would have to pay for is checks. But if we can use our debit card for purchases then the only things we would need the checks for anyways is rent and occassionally stuff for ds's school. I think this will save us some money plus make us a little more than the 1% we were getting from the other credit union.

If you have online bill pay, you don't need checks at all. I can't remember the last time I wrote a check out for a bill. I love doing it online.
