If you buy yeast look here!
I got 2 one lb each packages of yeast-a total of 2lbs- at Sams for $4.16.

I just wanted to pass that along as a small jar of Fleishmans at our local grocery is almost $8 and less than 1 lb.
PS I made it out of Sams and only spent $65. A good day for me lol!

Sam's is where I buy my yeast too. In the vacuum packed "bricks".

Yes in the bricks. I was thinking of pouring it into a large canning jar with a tight lid. Would that work?
What I got was--
a 30 roll scott toliet tissue mega sized roll paper for $18.42
700 coffee filters for my mom as I have a Keurig coffie sistem that doesn't use filters for $2.34
7lbs of light brown sugar for $3.84--wowsa!
a book--yes I did buy a book--$6.46
110 load Members Mark laundry soap that is HE for front loaders but I use HALF measure so I get almost twice or 200 loads for $13.43
90 count electrol tabs for dishwasher $11.26
yeast $4.16
total-$60.21 and tax makes for $64.52
but but but I neeeeedddddeeeddd that book......really...I did...I...wahhhhhhh!!The math never lies, budget in INK!

I buy it there, too, and put open one of the bricks and put it in a plastic jar with a tight fitting lid and keep it (and the other brick) in my freezer....it lasts a looooooooooong time that way

I keep mine in the freezer too. Still in the brick, but I place the open brick in a freezer bag. I'm afraid of glass in the freezer and don't have a plastic container that will fit in the door of my freezer.

I've been doing that for years, I read once that it comes out to be about $60 in savings by buying the bricks instead of the little packages. I keep mine in a jar in the freezer and it keeps for at least a year.

Darn no Sam's. The small jar around here is $9.99. I've been using the coupons for the strips, making them about .50 but out of coupons now. Hmm, I'll have to find someone who shops there.

Another place to look is at stores that sell food etc for restaurants. That is where I bought mine. I just don't remember how much I paid for it.
