    Unhappy fell off the bandwagon

OK..so I haven't been over here to read as much as I was a few months ago--and I have fell off BIGTIME!!! My CC's were paid off..I now carry over $1,000 balance on one CC...We have been eating out 2-3 times a week as when I do have an evening off from work I don't want to cook---OR CLEAN. and I have spent $70 a week on STARBUCKS...who does that??? I am sick of where I am and it is time I get back on track (I am still saving $500 weekly in a high yield savings) and be debt free (as my name says) and stash more cash away for moving within the next few months as we haven't done it due to me being scared of being so frugal---I wonder I can actually do it and stick to it?!?!? Warm weather is here and that is a MAJOR downfall.

HELP with some words of encouragement! Thanks!

it's because you went back to being "normal". semi quoting dave ramsey
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Don't beat yourself up too hard. I think that sometimes when we are stressed it is really easy to slip into old habits as they are comfortable.

I have moments where I have spent more money that I wanted to on stuff sometimes needed, most often not and I smack myself a bit and then let it go and start over.

    You can do!

It's hard to be frugal all the time. Don't be to upset with yourself, just jump back in. Get some froozen pizzas for those nights you don't want to cook. Cheer up.

I betcha almost every person at fv has their own collection of bandwagon tumble stories. It's not a matter of being perfect or being a failure (or whatever your self-scolding term of choice is) -- it's trying to be better rather than worse as many of our days as possible.

You'll find lots of hands here to help pull you back on -- at least the ones that aren't still too busy dusting off their jeans from their own last fall!

You don't want to be "normal" especially in this economy; I know I don't...so dust yourself off and get back to simplicity. You're only human and we all make mistakes...change your habits and you will be debt free in no time.

Not to worry... there doesn't appear to be too much damage at all!
I thought you were going to say... I charged $7,000 for my trip to Disney! or something like that. $1000! nothing doing!- if you're saving $500 weekly- that's about 300% more than anybody I know! (take a couple of weeks, pay off the cc.)

Starbucks.... sheesh! I had to see where you're from. East coast or west coast. lol! yeah... I caught myself paying out $1200/yr to SB. just for me. DH was separate. IXNAY!

I don't know what kind of drink you like- but find an alternative ASAP. I went from drinking something expensive and highly addictive (and for the life of me, I can't recall what it was! just goes to show you - ya don't need it! LOL) to drinking a green tea.

I agree with the frozen pizza night. On those nights, I have pancakes, eggs stuff like that. You'll find a system that works for you so you can stick with it.

It's good you recognize it- and you didn't fall off far.

    WELCOME BACK!

Michelle, of course you can do it.

Like others have said, pick yourself up - dust yourself off and hop back on the frugal bandwagon.

    You CAN do this!

    Love,

    Jen

Oh this happens to us all. The good thing is you realize that you have "fell off". Just dust yourself off and start from right where you are and it all will come back to you. Good luck.
