    Default shopping at BJ's

Today we signed up at BJ's as a new member and we thought it would be a good deal. We saved .13cents on gallon of gas which brought it down to $4.07. We bought our paper products, cleaning products, laundry goods, and some food today. This was a great savings for us because now I don't have to go shopping every week or every other week to get these items. The store is an hour away from my home but it was a nice date with my DH today. Also we got to sign my DS up also for the same price so we got two memberships for $45.00 for both. I was wondering does anyone else use BJ's store? How do you like shopping there?

I actually work for BJ's, but over the years I've shopped at Sam's and Costco. The main reason I prefer BJ's (aside from the fact that they sign my paycheck) is that you can use the Bj's coupons in tandem with the manufacturer's coupon that comes in the Sunday paper. We save a ton of money using those.

Also, you can buy in smaller packages than some of the other stores. And in our area, you can't beat the gas prices.

Welcome aboard, I hope you have great shopping experiences

I love BJ's but can easily spend way too much money there! I always bring a calculator with me to quickly break the cost into unit prices to see if it is a deal or not. There are certain things that I have found I can get cheaper somewhere else. But there is alot I do get there!
    ENJOY!

I shop there too. My usual buys are:
~yeast, super duper extra super deal you get 2 1lb pkgs for around $5
~cheese, I buy the shredded, repackage & freeze. with sliced cheese I love the Finlandia Swiss
~bj's brand "chex type mix, not too salty
~bj's brand salad dressing is so good
~whole chickens for rotissering or beer butt chicken, .49 cents/lb
~pork, buy a big roast and cut in half or thirds and cook one , freeze rest. much cheaper per /lb
    ~boneless pork "ribs" $1.99/lb
~beef eye of the round roast, again big pkg, split & freeze
    ~hot dog & hamburger buns
    ~salsa
    ~coffee
    ~spices
    ~bananas really good price too
~big thing of field greens when my garden isn't producing
    ~milk, eggs
    ~tortellini & pierogies, yum
    ~calcium
    plus more

BJ's brand of anything we've tried is excellent. Really.
We really like shopping there & definitely think it's worth the price of admission. Dd (out on her own) and I share a membership. She lives very near it & I don't so she often buys what I want, puts it on my cc (yes it has her name on it & I let her use it. She also makes other purchases since she's so close to everything & we are out in the boonies plus she's very responsible. win/win)and then hubby picks up our order when he drives by her place on his way home from work. Wow I never really thought of it but I guess I have my own personal shopper.

I'm still on the fence about my BJs membership. I just purchased it a month ago. The meat section has a limited selection and I can get better prices when WinnDixie is having a sale. I can usually get gas cheaper elsewhere too. Also their produce has a limited selection and has large bundles that I probably wouldn't eat up before they go bad, so I only get onions and that sort of stuff.

I can get shredded cheese for a lot cheaper at BJs and their frozen seafood is a good deal. I just bought them both yesterday and I hope they are of good quality.

I love that you can use coupons!

It's easy to spend a lot though because of the large packages. I got 9 items yesterday and spent over $70.

Their fine jewelry section is small but has very nice looking items. Also the prices advertised in their vision center appear to be very good deals.

I guess it boils down to having to know what is a good deal in your area.

I shop Bj's every 2 weeks ( more in the summer as we get our meat there for the BBQ's)
We also get our carry outs, plastic utensils, etc
My sister and her middle DD have a membership there also.
In fact will be heading that way Wed.

I love BJ's. It is close, clean and saves me quite a bit of money.

There does seem to be a price discrepency depending on the region though. I've never seen chicken below .79/lb. And gas is typically 9 cents cheaper than the local stations. Their milk prices though reflect the market better and a gallon of 2% is less than $3 where the local markets still have it way over.

It is still up to me to know my prices but I wouldn't save as much without my BJ's. LOL

we share a membership with my mom i think we save money there as long as we think before we shop i could easily space out and blow my whole budget on one trip.

so i just had to figure out what we need from there specifically. its also a good place to buy toys and books so i do some xmas shopping there.

I like our BJ's, and we go probably once every two weeks. If you have a baby, it is very tough to beat their prices on diapers, wipes, and formula.

The one thing I don't like is their fresh produce section. Nothing is ever really "ripe" and it spoils too quickly. Sometimes it just looks terrible.

I also like that a lot of the prices are close to grocery store sales - for example, around here butter is $3.99/lb. It goes on sale for $1.99/lb. I can get 4lbs at BJ's for $9.19. Slightly more than sale price, but on the other hand - that's the every day price, I don't have to wait for it to "go on sale"

For couponing, yes, you can combine a BJ's coupon and a manufacturer's coupon - plus you can use the $1/2 coupon if there's 2 or more in a big pack.

Like every other place - some things they are a lot cheaper on, some things they are more expensive on. Overall, it's worth it for us.
