We have an 1400 square foot home, and I have a 15,100 BTU window a/c unit upstairs and a 10,000 BTU unit downstairs. Both of those are set to 80 degrees on Energy Save mode. We also have 2 box fans and ceiling fans in every room. Our central a/c went kaput about 3 years ago, and we haven't been able to get a new unit. We're in Ohio, and it gets humid in the summer, and I babysit, so I have to be able to keep things somewhat cool.

We have 3 ceiling fans - in both bedrooms and the living room. We have two tabletop fans from the days when we lived in an apartment without ceiling fans. No a/c. It doesn't get hot or humid enough here to justify it. In fact, we rarely use the ceiling fans.

I live in Colorado. Here we have what are called "swamp" or evaporative coolers. The have filters that water runs over and then the compressor blows air over the filters. It adds moisture as well as cool BUT runs on 110.

We have a large ceiling mount swamp that runs most of the day on low, if it get hot goes on high. 2 ceiling fans, 1 floor fan and 1 room air conditioner (also 110) in my bedroom which is the farthest from the swamp. I have an additional fan in the garage if we need it and dh has a window fan in his room as well. Since his room is 5 feet from the swamp cooler he gets the best cooling effect.

We lived in one mobile that had actual AC .. cost us $300.00 for one month 6 years ogo
