Default We splurged a little and I feel bad...

...well not really me, but DH did. It was only $6.50 but he blew it on potato chips. He said he needed munchies because their is never enough in the house and apparently apples dont qualify as munchie material...lol. We were doing so well with the budgeting too. We even talked ourselves out of take-out, which is awesome. I guess I just have to figure out how much he likes to eat.
I guess when I shop, I shop for two of me and I kinda forget that I'm only 5'2" 105 lbs and DH is 6'2" 198 lbs. He does need more food than i do.
    Anyone else have this problem?

Don't be so hard on yourself! A $6.50 splurge isn't anything to beat yourself up over! It could be worse!

We have the same problem here. With DH being 230, and working a very physical job...I forget that he NEEDS to eat more than the rest of us. Plus, I have 2 boys who eat like teenagers. So, I always make my shopping list and add about 5 extra snack foods to it to make sure I have enough. I always figure if they don't get eaten, they will keep and I can roll them over into the next grocery menu!

I had this problem when DH and I first were married. One day we were in the kitchen and he looked me square in the eye and said "do you realize I'm bigger than you?"

While a $6.50 bag of chips isnt' the most frugal purchase in teh world, its not going to blow your budget and all of your hard work. Just shake this off as and learn from it.

My DH regularly complains about the lack of munchies in our house - & will splurge like that too... I think it's a "guy" thing - as we are almost the exact same height, weight, & do the same desk job (we work together.) He still has a sweeter tooth & will snack more. Don't beat yourself up over $6.50 - is there anyway you can make an effort to have some frugal snacks in the house?

My DH will go browsing the house looking for something crunchy.
So find out what kinds of snack will satisfy his crunch cravings.
Some you'll be able to make, some you wont. Remember the quickest way to blow this whole frugal thing is to feel deprived.
So instead of feeling bad, look for solutions.

I had the same problem with DH and have now found the solution. I don't need to buy bags and bags of chips. All my DH wants is "something" to munch on at night. So I make sure there is always something (chocolate covered peanuts, french cheese, or even a certain sort (cheap) icecream in the freezer). It doesn't really matter what as long as there is something.
This works better for us because if I deprive him of a little night time snack, some how he is not as enthousiastic(?) about being frugal.

$6.50 for a bag of chips?!

They must be some amazing potato chips! However, I wouldn't beat yourself up over it. I think a good idea is to give your DH a "munchie budget" maybe $10 (or even $5) for the whole week, and see if he can make it last! I guarantee he won't be buying expensive chips anymore.

I, too, like to have chips & crackers around the house.... I try to buy on sale, and no eat the bag in one day.

oh, and don't get me started on chocolate or cookies (I don't buy those as often since i have less control) -- Thankfully, my mom will sometimes give me a bag of M & Ms

$6.50 is not that bad..... I have seen us go on a total binge and spend like 3 or 4 times that at a convenience store because we just HAD to have something to munch on! I try to plan the snacks into my budget so I buy them at the grocery store where they are cheaper. Also here lots of the drug stores (No Walgreens or CVS...we have Shoppers And Lawtons...hehe)have *Saturday only* specials and usually they include chips or soda or chocolate. I have issues with my weight so I dont like to keep too much of that around. But...if I dont my husband and son will hollar for it!

I thought you had went out and spent hundreds of
    dollars.
If your hubby is anything like me (potato chip addict)
then he deserves his once and a while treat.

I find that if I but one little "extra" when shopping (and it is usually something on sale) my guys are happy! Yes, they have bigger appetites than I do. Plus my idea of a treat, just doesn't do it for them most times.

My DH loves chips also. $6.50 - hopefully that was for more than ONE bag.
