ugh we got take out!
ugh we got take out tonight, about $35 or so dollars later .. I feel frustrated by that, that could have got us so far (we ate out for father's day as well - that was preplanned though) - this was a last minute decision that would have been avoided with planning dinner ugh!!

It's okay. At least you realized your mistake. I hate it when I give in to the take out monster. I always feel horrible afterwards when I'm thinking about all the groceries I could have gotten and dinners I could have made with the same amount of money.
Don't beat yourself up, just remember that next time!

I know how you feel.
When ever we eat out I'm always thinking of how
much groceries I could have bought and the food
would have been better made at home.
When will we learn." May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. One of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have."

We buy a huge bag of fish sticks from Costco, veggies, and pasta sauce/pasta...
Those are our two "fall back" meals.

The past is just that, and you can't change what you did, so don't beat yourself up over it

I've been there, many a time. I learned to discuss it and re-discuss it, then talk yourself out of it. We did that yesterday, but it doesn't always work. I know its hard.

We have the same issue here. I've learned to be sure that I have a couple of quick, easy & yummy meals on hand each week, so the nights I don't feel like cooking, I still have something to make that isn't too tough. That way, hopefully we won't be tempted to eat out!

Don't beat yourself up over it. know that you made the mistake and move on. Like everyone else has said have a few go to items in the house so that way it won't happen again.

I try to make sure things are thawed before lunch so that we don't end up "eating out". Sometimes I like eating out though if the budget will allow. Right now, NO extra $ for it.

Its ok to make a mistake but at least you relized it. Hopefully I know I try to learn from my mistakes.

I think we have all been there - or I have. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just move forward and learn from the past. Having a fall back meal would be a better idea. Maybe have some pizzas, fish sticks, or something else easy that you can toss in the oven on hand would help prevent take out dinners.

Don't beat yourself up too much...take out happens even with the best of intentions to do otherwise.
So, you will do better next time and perhaps talk yourself out of it. Anyway so long as your electric isn't going to get cut off a splurge no and again won't make you evil and 35 on take out that is enjoyed is better than spending hundreds on a gadget that you only touch twice.

Wendy, thanks for posting, I was really not wanting to cook dinner last night and so I announce to my partner that we were getting take away. The ridiculous thing was that we had just been shopping so we had heaps of fresh produce to cook, I was just being lazy.
He said to me, ok if you want to but shouldn't we use the salad stuff before it goes off? and then I thought of how bad you felt yesterday and so I sucked it up and made dinner even though I didn't feel like it.
I feel better today though and if it hadn't been for reading your post yesterday then I would have definately gone out to grab something and it would have cost at least $40 as well as the $200 I had just spent on Groceries!. I'm so glad I didn't
