    Default It costs HOW much??

Tonight I went to the grocery store to get a few things and man, has the price gone up, up ... up!

My tofu hot dogs that I usually get had gone up from 2/$5.00 to $2.99 a pack.

And a 24 oz. bottle pancake syrup [sugar free] that I normally get for around $2.29 was, get this ...... $4.29.

It went up $2.00 and that was within the past week or two.

    Is that crazy or what??!

I don't know if Walmart has raised their price on the syrup yet or not but as soon as I can, I'm gonna go out and if not, I'm stocking up.

This isn't a joke anymore ... not that I thought it was to begin with but though I had seen a little higher prices on things, tonight just shocked me beyond belief!

I did read on that list the other day about what things are made from corn and yes, they did say pancake syrup but darn it ... there's no way that we should be feeling the effects of it already [due to the flooding in the midwest and the lost crops.]

Stores seem to be good at that ... they hear something and raise the prices as fast as they can. Ugggggggh!

    Love,

    Jen

I bought a gallon of milk yesterday and it jumped .50. I posted a link on another thread about all the corn by-products and it is amazing.

Another reason to avoid corn syrup! Everything is made "with corn" because they use the starch to sweeten it. I hate the way food is processed and think that it's backfiring now in terms of cost so we have to feel the effects because of it. I totally understand your upset, I'm getting really tired of it too.

My grocery bill too is skyrocketing, I hate to shop for food now. I will have to get creative with the menus.

    YIKES!!

Well.. considering soy comes from that area as well... that's going through the roof.
    Not fair.

If you go with Raw Diet... you'll naturally eat less.. because 100% of your food is digested and your body doesn't crave more and more to meet it's needs.
So.. even though you feel you're paying more for excellent quality food.. you're actually paying less- because you don't eat as much. And long term bennee's include excellent health. That should be enough to convince EVERYONE.

    Just a thought.

    Carry on!

I've not been shopping in a few weeks but won't be able to avoid a trip today since I'm running out of everything and the food stamps should be in the EBT account today. I wish I could get out of taking DH but he gets stir crazy sitting around here. I just have to put on my best 'Mommy' voice and get prepared to say no, you don't need that!

    Red face

Actually corn/bean prices have been rising for some time. My FIL works at a feed mill - so he buys the corn/beans from the farmer for the chickens at the egg plant he works for. Anyway...farmers are GREATLY affected by the price of gas. As well as speculators have been raising the prices on grain for the last year or so. So what I am saying is that we haven't begun to see the effect of the flooding on grain prices

Mom use to feed the 6 of us on $60 a week. Now, it's almost like they charge you that much to walk in the door.

    That's it. I'm going on a diet!
