    Default My Frugal Vacation

My husband and me are getting to go on a little vacation next week without the kids!! We have been married 7 years in August and have never stayed in a hotel together. The best part of this vacation is that our hotel is going to be paid for. This is actually a buisness trip for my hubby and I am tagging along. His work will pay for the hotel, his meals, and reemburice him for the gas, so all we have to pay is my meals. How cool is that. I am taking a cooler with some stuff for my lunch and breakfast so I will just eat out for supper. The only bad side is during the day he will be in classes so I will be alone but I am bring a gameboy and lots of books to read to entertain myself. We might go to six flags one day out of the five we will be there but he gets discounted tickets through work for $20. I am so excited!!!!

Most hotels have contenntial breakfasts so you won't have to pay for that.
That should make it even better for you.

Sounds just like when my dh has to go away for business, he ends up in class all day.

Where are you going? Maybe you can look up on the net for some interesting things to do while he is in class. Even if you take a walk around town to check things out. Do a little sightseeing on your own.

We are going just a couple hours away to Louisville Ky. The bad thing is that he will have the car during the day and the hotel is fairly close to the bad side of town so I don't think I will be going anywhere by myself. But I can't be to picky since it is a free hotel. It is a Days Inn and they do have an indoor pool so I will certainly be taking advantage of that.

Have a wonderful time! Nothing better than lounging in a room you don't have to clean up and catching up on pleasure reading. I've done this several times with my DH, pre-and-post kids. DH doesn't want any travel in his new job, but I'm kind of hoping for a once or twice a year jaunt we can accompany him on.

Here is something I do when I have to go out of town on a business trip or a frugal vacation. I make it a "spa" trip.
I take a lot of HBA items that I have gotten free or nearly free with coupons with me to use in the hotel. I take some free scented candles (coupons again) and light them when I take a bath. I make some homemade spa items like a "olive oil sugar scrub" I take stuff to give myself a pedicure and a manicure. I take herbal tea bags to drink or soak in the tub with. I take a good book. I come back feeling very rested, relaxed and pampered because I get an opportunity to just take care of myself. (no dishes, no laundry, no kids)

    Enjoy your time alone
    and with your Husband.
