Default Huh ketchup bottle is low.... Lets get Frugal

well lets just fill it up.

Silly me i noticed my ketchup bottle was almost empty ... we really do not use ketchup a lot so its been a long time since we have gotten any and i don't have a surplus.

So i went digging through my bag of fast food packets.. we don't eat out often but when we do i shove all the sauces into this bag.

I filled the ketchup half way with the little packets i had gathered over the few times we had been out to eat. Thats what i get for when they ask if i need sauces saying okay.

Now though you have to ask for sauces if you want any at a lot of places because they do not ask. Which sucks because i never think to ask for sweet and sour to go with my chicken nuggets. Tells you how often i get them *lol*

for me it is the kids that eat it all. DH does not do ketchup, mustard, relish, mayo or any of those things. (except BBQ sauce) and I have a DS who thinks BBQ sauce is one of the food groups. But they are good to clean it out and throw the empty away or at least rinse it out for recycling.

That's a good idea, putting the little packets into the bottle.

I was wondering, though, if anyone's made ketchup with all their extra tomatos...

We buy ketchup in bulk at Sam's at my house... my DH and kids LOVE the stuff. I keep the fast food packets to put in DH's lunches for work.

    lol, or your son

That is a great idea to use the packets that way. I keep mine on hand for lunches as well. I have put a few in my glove box to keep close by in case I needed them when I was out (and forgot to get some from where ever I was getting a bite to eat from).

My kids & husband never eat it all, that's WHAT drives me crazy! They will leave one or 2 bites left, or less that a 1/4 of a glass of liquid and put the container back. I'm always asking them "why didn't you just finish the darn thing?"
Sorry, just had to let that out, lol. We don't eat out a ton but I always like to ask for bbq sauce whenever we do, I bring them home & put them in the fridge for DD who likes to dip all sorts of things in bbq sauce - they make a perfect size for one person.

I never though of that. That's a great idea. I am trying to cut back to none but I must admit I hit McDonald's once a week.

That reminds me of the time I was making meatloaf that calls for a cup of ketchup. I realized I was out or almost out while making it and resorted to some ketchup packets I had on hand . It took forever to get enough and my dh was giving me the strangest looks!

LOL! We have lots of soy sauce packets in the fridge for when we run out. For ketchup we buy bulk and freeze in smaller containers to thaw and refill the old ketchup bottles. I do this with mustard too. I usually can our own zucchini relish for hamburger/hotdog relish. And I make mayo from scratch.

I had quite a stock pile of ketchup packets before I left my now ex. I haven't done that in quite a while. I will remember next time we go out to lunch - not very often.

My sil never bought ketchup. She would buy a $1.00 burger and get a handful of ketchup packets and take them home and put them in the bottle.
