    Default So proud of myself!!

A few weeks ago or last week (can't remember when), another poster posted about cutting her own hair. I was inspired, so today I did it! I took the plunge and cut my hair. I love it!! I asked the boys if it was straight and if it looked right. DS#2 said it looked just like how the beautician does it. YEA!! I have one of those short haircuts where it spikes out in the back. I have needed to go in for about a month and get it done, but have put it off. Well, I just saved myself $25 by doing it myself. I need a new color too, but I am going to do that myself tomorrow! That will save $60. I usually spend $85 for a cut and color, plus a tip. So I am proud of my savings!!

Oh that's wonderful! I haven't colored my hair in six months, maybe I should do it soon. My mom's coming to visit for the first time in six years, so I have to look good for her.

<---- too chicken to cut my own hair

I have the worst hair and it's so 70s wavy and thick. I reduced my hair cuts to every 6 months to save money and just walk around with a partial bun in my hair every day.

I do cut both kids' hair plus DH was joking around with buzzing his head (his hair is pretty long).

I was chicken too, but then I just went for it. I thought if I messed it up then I would call my beautician to fix it. LOL!

My hair is really thick too. I think that is why I keep it short. If I let it grow it starts curling on it own and irritates me. I do better with shorter hair.

I also cut DH's and the boy's hair. Why pay someone else to do it if you can do it better?

I always color my own hair and many times I can get color for as little as $1 - $3. I use coupons and do subscribe to the grocery game which tells me the best times to use those lovely coupons. I have even gotten $10 mascara for .50 using the grocery game.

I cut my own hair the last time (I actually just got ticked off at what it was or was not doing and picked up a pair of scissors and off it went). Of course it took me ummm cutting a bit more a couple of times to even it up. (moral of the story, don't cut your own hair when mad...heehee

    Good for you!

I have a cosmetologist degree, but don't work in the field anymore. I can tell you that that education has paid for itself many times over in the last 18 years! I have always done my own hair and that of my hubby and kids. Doing it yourslef guarantees that you will get exactly what you asked for..he he!

You will have to find another place for the money you will save!

That's awesome!! Sounds like you'll be racking up the savings!

I don't think I would be brave enough! Eek!

I don't color or do anything special to my hair. I get it cut about every 2-3 months by my mom's friend...she only charges me $12 (and she used to cut hair professionally, so she's real good).

That's awesome! I just spent $50 for a cut and color. I just don't have the time or patience to learn to do it myself.

    Awesome! :woohoo:

I am really bad about going to the hairdresser's. I don't know why, but I just hate going--and for more reasons than spending the money. I desperately need to get it cut, but I always color it on my own now.

i used to have a degree in cosmetology, so i cut everyone's hair. oldeest dd now has a degree, so she does my hair. *she has been doing my hair since she was 12~

dh has to have a military cut, so he gets his cut every two weeks.
dd's all have medium to long hair, so all i do to them is trim it.

dd/18 just put a perm in my hair. we go to sally's beauty supply and now that she has her license, we get professional products so much cheaper. so that helps!

here is an example of what we bought the other day:
    one professional perm
    three packs of perm rods
    one package of rolling papers
    one package of rolled cotton
three eye shadows. (buy two get one free)

    11.89 for all of it.
to get a perm for my length of hair, it would have cost me 90, plus a cut and tip.
so i am really liking the savings! lol

Good for you! I cut my own bangs and color my own hair, but have zero coordination to manage the rest of the cutting.

Ok, I am inspired! I am cutting and coloring my hair tonight. My husband asked if it was a good idea that I do it myself...I asked him why and he said...you really think the dogs are cute when you are done cutting their hair?! lmao
Oh well....it will always grow back and I am really trying to help out the budget....I will let you know how it goes.
