So thankful I bought the extended warranty
Two years ago I bought a new TV from Walmart and when I got home, I got online and for around $23.00 [close to that anyways], I bought a 3 year extended warranty.
Well, a month or so ago the TV started messing up and I had to call to have it fixed.
They repair company come to my house, couldn't fix it here and had to take it back with them to their repair shop.
It ended up being that it couldn't be fixed so they submitted something to Walmart [warranty department or whatever] and they [Walmart] just called me a few minutes ago and they're refunding my purchase price for the TV [$220.00 + any taxes paid as well.]
I'm soooo glad I decided to buy the extended warranty, it was worth every penny of it!
So, I guess my advice would be [especially things bought from Walmart because I know they do honor their warranties that are bought] - I would definitely spend the little extra for just in case.
In my case, it certainly did pay off in the end!

I wouldn't buy extended warranties for everything, but I do for somethings. I've heard so many people say that they are rip off's but I've had to use the SEVERAL times. In fact, I think I've had to use every warranty I've purchased. Things just aren't made the way they used to be. TV's used to last 15 years or more, but that doesn't happen now. It's a sad reality.
Good for you that it worked out!

I rarely take extended warranties. Luckily I haven't really needed any.

Geez, re-reading my post it sounds like I've done this for everything, I haven't. We used one for the first DVD player that we ever bought. I've also used one for my last three PDA's. They always seem to have problems and crap out before two years is over. We'll buy one for our next tv, which will be a flat screen LCD, but I probably won't buy one for anything else. Anyway, I know it doesn't matter, I just wanted to clarify.

I also don't buy the extended warranties for everything ... actually the only things I have bought them for are this TV and for any computers I've bought.
For most things like low ticket items that wouldn't cost much to replace, I wouldn't buy one for.
Tiffany ... I knew what ya were trying to say.

Love,
Jen

That's great news!! I normally buy them on larger ticket items. We bought one for dh's XBOX that is good through October 08 and we are about to put a claim in on it because his XBOX keeps freezing up and erasing hours of game data. Dh keeps cursing at it when he has stayed up until 3 or 4am to play and then loses all his game data!!
