Default Would you buy canned/boxed food at a garage sale?

I was just perusing craigslist for yard sales tomorrow and I found a huge one (on Sunday) and they listed canned foods/boxed foods as items to be sold.

I'm sure its probably ok, but that just eeked me out for some reason. I don't know why....would you buy non perishable food from a yard sale?

As long as I could find a expiration date listed and it was within date and priced right, I would buy them. I have never seen any sort of canned/boxed food sold at a garage sale, but I have not been to that many.

I bought some from an estate sale once. It was fine. Within the date and cheap. I would only buy something that I knew couldn't be buggy, i.e. canned goods, celophane bagged stuff, etc.

I don't think I would. I find it odd that they would be selling that stuff. Maybe they really need the money though.

I don't think I would buy it... They could return it to the store and get store credit if it hasn't expired and they need the money (then sell the gift card to someone)...or they could donate it if they're just moving and need to get rid of it.

I would buy it as long as it was within date and a very low price. Then again, I am up against a wall most of the time and to me, this is no different than the free types of non perishable foods one would find within a church pantry or food bank.

Nope. And when I see stories about people dumpster-diving for food, I get ill thinking about it. I don't see a reason to risk my health eating things I don't know the history of. Luckily, we have our own little stockpile to fall back on, and we have a big swap of fresh garden stuff with about a dozen other people.

Then again, I can't remember the last time I saw ANYthing I wanted at a garage sale. Oh, there's a big one two houses down in the morning. No ... must not go ...

I have sold boxed goods at a garage sale. I had awesome coupons and a great sale and just had WAY more than we could use. It did sell too!

Probably not but certainly would if I really needed it and couldn't afford food at the store. Just like the food banks- never used them but I would if I had to.

Not unless there was no other way to feed my family. It just makes me uncomfortable. Yet I have no issue with buying from a salvage store or scratch and dent type of place. Go figure

I am going to have to vote 'no' on this one. I don't have much of an explanation for feeling that way... I just do.
