    Angry My secret.... (kinda long)

Okay, what is this? Alcoholics Annonymous or something? It's like: "Hi, I'm Natalie, and I'm a...." Admit it.

Okay. I don't have a penny for gas.

I spend like $40 every 6 days for gas. (I'm a home health aide, CNA, so I drive a lot.)

I put it on the credit card. I don't like to do that, really, unless I have the money in the bank already (pinching the pennies so I get all the interest off my money in my account as long as possible, then pay the bill in full when the bill comes.)

My boss, or one of his underlings, say they'll repay me $3 per mile to get to my first lady's place, since it's off the highway a bit. That wouldn't even cover how much money I spend on gas.

But the boss is even more of a penny pincher than I am. I figure that'd be $540 every 2 weeks. I got $22 in fuel refund last paycheck. (I resisted a disgusted snort on the way out of the office after picking the check up so here it is: snort!!!) Hardly covers me starting up my car, let alone backing out of the driveway first thing...

    Cough.

So I turned in the mileage report for another 2 weeks. Boy, he's way behind...

But I'm studying to be a medical transcriptionist, and that pays good...

    Sorry, had to vent...

$3 a mile for gas???? When I was working agency, I managed to wiggle in to one of the 2 administrative visitor spots that came with health insurance and a whopping .35/mile reimbursement!
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

The company reimberses fiance .33 cents a mile for his traveling.
$3.00 a mile he'd be a happy camper. as this week he's almost 200 miles each way.

~I think maybe she means just to the first house and the rest of the gas is on her.
Natalie, I think your boss has to pay you for the gas used to get to client's homes. After all, the fact that you go to them is built into the cost of service and gas is part of that cost. Is there any was they can add a gas surcharge to their client's bills?~

It is just to the first house. I've asked before, and they don't pay every mile. They bill medicare/medicade for each 1/4th hour I'm there.

    Grr...

I am a home health nurse and we get 40 cents per mile for mileage. (we just got a raise, we were getting 28 cents per mile) The home health aides for our company do not get mileage reimbursement, but if they have a client that is "out of the way", they get a little extra per hour on that client. The company pays the nurses mileage because we visit 10-13 homes daily, where the aides are usually only in 1-3 homes daily.

The federal rate is now around 58 cents a mile, keep your mileage and you can file it on your taxes. Dh travels alot for his job and when he started they paid 48 cents, then 52 and as of July 1 it will be 58 cents a mile. I have a friend who works as an aide for a healthcare company and she sees 8-9 patients a day and gets mileage.

I just want to through this out there if it might be a help to you?.?. Why not work in a Hospital or Nursing Home?..maybe the pay is not as good as a HHA pay rate is? however at least you would know what you get paid everyweek and can count on a certain amount of money.... If I'm not mistaken you aren't guaranteed xxx amount of hrs you work a week in that type of job..BTW in my area(not sure if it's offered in all hospitals) the hospitals train cna's to do EkG's,finger sticks, blood draws and the list goes on...I hope everything works out for you..(((HUGS))

    p.s. I'm also cna.

couldn't edit...I ment to add that the more you are trained in the more money you would make in regards to working in the Hospital..

I've worked in a nursing home and assisted living. The family complains if the hot dogs get over cooked (I left another aide in charge of the hot dogs, & I had to help another resident, but she didn't take care of the hot dogs, and it wasn't her that got fired...)... the nursing home... tell the resident hundreds of times that their legs are unsteady, and they should use the wheelchair or at least the walker, but no... you get fired cause they fall down one to many times, doesn't matter how many times you tell them about the walker at least...

Now you know why I'm studying medical transcription... had to go through a lot of sh-- in more than one way!

Okay, I feel a bit better again.

I'm a home health nurse also and we get 51 cents per mile. (We see 6-8 patients a day). The CNA we have working for us also makes the same mileage the nurses do. Unless they work part-time, the nurses and CNAs at the companies I've worked for are guaranteed their hours. I don't think it's required that companies pay mileage because you can claim it on your taxes at the end of the year. But I know that the companies around here that don't pay mileage have a very hard time keeping good employees, so most of them do pay it. Good luck on your goal of becoming a medical transcriptionist, Natalie.

$3.00 per mile I would jump for joy if my job paid that. I am a meals-on-wheels delivery driver and I get paid $0.41 a mile...........
