Walmart question...
I received a $150 gift card to walmart. I never shop there (I'm a target addict). Anyway, what are some good deals that you specifically go there for? The one near me does nto have food except for a few isles of canned/boxed, refrigerated and some frozen. What do you tend to find good deals on there? I really don't need clothes that much since I have a $150 gc to kohls also and I I love their clothes. I just need 2 parts, 3 tops and a pair of shoes and at Kohls' $150 should get me that. So anyway, What do you go to Walmart for and what deals have you found? Thanks!

Well you could always advertise it for sale if you arent interested in using it!

lol thats a great idea but I think I will use it. I was just going to go and get things that I've always wanted (certain cleaning supplies, outdoor toy for my daughter) but wasn't sure if there were certain deals there I should keep my eye out for. I don't shop there because I don't like it I just happen to live next to a target and am seriously addicted (at least not as bad as my friend who would spend close to $1000 a month there until her hubby cut her off)

Hmm, with no groceries you could clip some coupons and go after clearanced stuff to get it nearly free. Do they have a gas station there? They give a .03 a gallon discount when you use a gift card. Or you could just start Christmas shopping early this year...

:shock: I can't imagine spending that much a month at a store!
Is there a tire lube express at your walmart? You could use it for new tires or many oil changes. Lawn furniture? Plants? Sheets? New pillows? Kitchen appliances? That's all I can think of for now.
If it were me, I would probably sell it for cash.

No I don't which stinks. Closest supercenter walmart is 40 minutes from me. Not worth the gas. That's actually a good idea. Better yet (since I have christmas handled) I may get all birthday gifts for the rest of the year plus a toy for my daughter to ease up on my budget.
I just wasn't sure if there were things (Like at target where they have the $1 section) that I should find specifically. Thanks for the advice!

Other than practical items, you could buy yourself some DVDs, CDs, a small iPod, video games (if you have a gaming system), organizational items... I can come up with lots of ways that you can use it!
As for what do I buy at Walmart? Not much because I find shopping there to be frustrating. However, I like their house brand of dishwasher detergent. They also have a pretty good spray paint section. My husband often needs spray paint for various projects, and when I wanted some for my own project, Walmart had the best color selection.

The walmart that i shop at has a clearance section. i always check there first for things like bedding for the snake, or treats for the cat or dogs.
i will tellyou, since i never buy things for me, i would use that to get me some things that i need. like a new bra, new undies, or a new purse or something. since we have the grandbaby now, i would go and get some wipes and diapers for him and maybe a new outfit or something that i know that they need.
but that is just me.
or like you said, get birthday gifts for the rest of the year. why not start on next year's christmas.

You know what I found? It is extremely hard for me to buy for myself since I haven't done so in so long. My mother actually insists on coming with me to Kohls to spend that GC because she knows I'll end up spending it all on my daughter.
For Christmas I make jams for everyone. I already have all supplies and money put aside for fruit.
I think I'm going to ease my need to buy for others and buy some for myself. I'm going to get some cheeses, milk, etc.. and whatever other grocery items I can get, Get a toy for my daughter and my nephew, some cleaning supplies and get myself a pair of shoes. Thanks everyone! It's so hard for me to just go and buy for me. I even had $100 to Target and spent it all on cleaning supplies and summer clothes for my daughter, hence why my mother insists on going with me to Kohls.

I use Sensitive toothpaste, it's cheaper there than Dollar General. I buy OTC Claritin, Carmex, their brand pretzels etc, hot choc mix, coffee, (creamer is cheaper @ DG), only canned food I buy there is their brand baked beans. My husband buys his monthly RX meds there... oh yes-my SweetnLow & Splenda. Good Luck shopping...........

It's the only place I can find my face cream and at a good price also.
I buy the AT&T calling cards there, (.05 a minute) and can use on any land line.
I like their Hazelnut candles.
Good Luck with your shopping : )

Well, if a $150 gift card fell in my lap... I would go and grab Gaterade.
We had gone to WM the other day for some 'camping' things and they had the big bottles on sale for .75 each. The Old Man drinks 2 of those a day. (Yes, we know water is free, but he is on the road from 6am until at least 9pm, he brings a sandwich to work... I am not about to deprive the man his drinks.
)
Of course, I wouldn't get ALL Gaterade, but I could because I know he IS going to drink it and it will save us money (just have to find the room to store it all
)
If you want to spend it on 'household items' and not for 'you'... is there a kitchen appliance you have thought about getting but didn't because of the cost? A bread maker to make fresh dough? A blender to make yogurt smoothies? Maybe it is time to replace your cookie sheet and muffin pan? Is your apron a little... non-existent? Swing by the fabric section and pick up 1.5 yards of material to make matching aprons for you and DD.
I could go on for days with ideas on how to spend that money!
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I don't shop regularly at Walmart, but I have nothing against it. If I had a $150 gift card there (which is pretty darn nice!) I would probably do some early Christmas shopping or I would buy some necessities that run up my grocery budget, like diapers. Why won't that little boy use the potty???
