    Default Yikes!!!The Price of Potatoes

Went to the grocery store yesterday and couldn't believe how potatoes are going up. Almost $6 for a 10 lb bag. We go through a lot of potatoes, hubby doesn't care what else is on the table if he's got some fried taters to go along with.

Yep I agree. A bag of potatoes is getting way too expensive. Hopefully next year I'll have some planted.
Lately I've been using canned new potatoes bought in bulk at Aldis for fried potatoes. ( Which is a staple at our house as well)

The potatoes in store now are from last years harvest, wait until they harvest the new crop in the late summer and the prices will drop again. Likewise, with onions.

OMG!!! I haven't bought potatoes in a few months, but the last time I did, I paid $0.99 for 5 lbs. I can't imagine paying that much! Hmmm...I'll have to do a comparison between real potatoes and flakes. (There is NO comparison in taste.)

I quit buying them. We do not eat that many and they go bad before they get used up.
Will wait for the new crop and get some them.

Big change in they way we eat is here. We are going to all have to get a little creative here folks. Stretching just about anything & variety is the name of the game. I'm sure we all will be sharing recipes for this & that to help us all through. We all are going to have to go with the flow, sorry spud lovers.

OMGoodness, this is not good news for me. I haven't been to the grocery store in about a month, but it is that time again and potatoes are one thing my family would die without!!!

They either want fried potatoes or french fries nightly!!!

Holy Moly. The last time I bought potatoes I paid less than $2 for a 10# bag. I am going to have to check next time at the grocery. Yikes.

I usually buy 5# and gradually use them up. Last week 5# was, I think $3. So I bought the 10# for 4.49. I figure I can always mash and freeze them. So for a while it's potatoes instead of pasta at this house. Maybe I should have gotten the smaller bag, but I just couldn't make myself pay that much. Guess I'll have to get used to it, though.
