Does anyone find that in summer...
you spend more going out to eat?
I do. And dont know why! I have food here, but am more lazy I guess. Easy to pick something up on way home.
I need to be held accountable for this. I think I will start a budget for this again like I used to.
$100 a month for now. That is $25 a week. Should be enough for me and my 2 kids. Will start today.
$0/$100

During the weekend, for sure. I try hard to make meals at home but my husband always wants to be out and about and I'm not always prepared for an on-the-go lunch.
I think I will have to make a budget as well. For him especially!

I agree...after a day with all the daycare kids, the heat, the feeding lunch, snacks, breakfast, etc...all day to 4-8 kids, i just feel like letting someone else cook for me, then I get mad at myself for wasting money!. LOL

Yep I have noticed recently... here I am trying to be even more frugal and wanting to grab something while out. I know why though for myself. It's the darn HEAT.
In the winter I don't mind heating up the kitchen to cook plus I can make things like soups, beans, chilies, stews etc. In the summer I just don't feel like that kind of food and my family isn't too crazy about just cold stuff for meals.
I do have weeks here and there when my husband and sons ( yea they are grown but still eat with me and one lives with us still ) are gone, where I just eat sandwiches.Tomatoe, bologna and egg sandwiches a lot. Or I will eat just whatever not to have to cook. I live in Mississippi though so the heats gonna hang around till at least Thanksgiving ! LOL I have to do better than this....Change Jar - 239.00 ~ March 18 , 2006

Yep, if it wasn't for my crockpot, I would do this too. But if I put something in it in the morning, then I can't use any excuse not to eat it.

I find myself wanting to but I can't afford to so that nips it in the bud. We were out yesterday and picked up 2 rotisserie chickens at Walmart that were marked down. that was as close to eating out as we have been in the past few weeks.
I do love my crockpot also.

Oh yeah, I should add that I've used my crockpot more in the past couple of weeks than I have in a long time. Almost every other day!

I'm the reverse. In the summer, I'll go grab whatever is in the garden (which I inevitably make salad out of), whereas in the winter I tend to eat dinner on the way home because the lack of sunshine depresses me and I don't eat at all if I go home first (ok, lecture on self-control, huh?). I also tend to eat more in one sitting when it is cold outside - haven't figured that one out - am I a bear trying to fatten up to protect myself?

Sometimes I feel that way. Although, it's almost like summer all year long here.

Sometimes I feel like that too. It's just too hot to cook. I've found that having pre-chopped veggies in the fridge, shredded cheese, sliced lunchmeat, etc., makes it real easy to throw together a chef salad. I can usually sit down and eat after about 5 mins of prep work for the salad and didn't have to heat the house up with the oven.

I'm with you on this one. We have garden full of stuff exploding and need to eat it.
In the winter, we get tired of being cooped up in the house, so out to dinner we go to break the routine of sitting about. Where as the summer we don't get back into the house until it's darka nd then it's off to bed, I don't mind putting together something light and fresh in the summer becuse it's all there.
