Default How do you rejuvinate without spending lots of money?

In response to the article on the front page I thought I'd start this thread.

For me it would be hiking with friends in the desert and mountains around my hometown. I feel refreshed, get to burn calories doing it and spend only the gas money it takes to get there (usually I hike within 10 to 15 miles of home).

I'm fortunate to live in a place with a lot of open spaces and BLM land surrounding me.

I hang out with friends at church or each other's homes. Or go to stitching, knitting, quilting groups with friends.

Also, if I want alone time and rejuvenation, I brew myself a great cup of tea, crank up the paraffin foot spa, grab my favourite magazine and treat my feet to a wax spa treatment while sipping and reading.

Another frugal rejuvenation technique I use is meditation. It's free and so worthwhile!

I'd have to say that I lay down on the couch and cuddle with DH to rejuvenate.

    Hmmm let's see now:

    *paint my own nails
    *read a book
    *watch a favorite TV program
*talk to my family via telephone
*call a friend for a little chat
*clean something that needs it, (usually overlooked)
*Have a cup of tea or coffee

I like reading online - boards like this.

Sit on the couch (AC is behind me) tv is on - dh watching it - I'm online reading sites or posting on my business site. It usually relaxes me but sometimes it does get me upset.

Taking a cool shower rejuvenates me.

I also like to go for walks, hang out with a friend, or do a craft.

A hard days labor at home. Call me nuts, but at the end of the day, if I REALLY got something accomplished and I can stand back and say "damn, I did a good days work", then I really feel good about myself and it gives me a good outlook.

Sometimes I just need to 'get out of the house' - away from the responsibilities and the kids. So I'll hang out at the library - it's cool there, browse magazines, the DVDs and the stacks. I can bring home as much stuff as I want

Sometimes I'll go to Starbucks, sit in a comfy chair and knit. For only $2 to $4 I'm out of the house. That's much cheaper than "going shopping". My knitting group meets there. For 2 hours of laughing, chatting and knitting, it costs me a couple of dollars. It is also close to home.

Whoa. I could have written this post myself except I do the crocheting/knitting at home, and read one of my library books if I stop at Starbucks on the way home (which is increasingly rare these days).

Enter sweepstakes online (Membership is $30.00 a year so I can enter more sweeps, much cheaper than buying lottery tickets. Yes, I do win occassionally!)

I like to go outside and play with the dogs. Kinda takes me back to childhood with no responsibilities and they don't complain about anything, just enjoy being.

    Take a nap

    Have a cup of Chai

Take a leisurely (not power) walk with my old dog

Have a nice meal that I don't have to cook

Put on a favorite perfume that I've been wearing since I was 18 (makes me feel young--or at least remember how it FELT to be young)

Walk down to the lake and sit on the bench for 30 minutes or so.

I make sure to get a walk in daily or some kind of exercise. Also turn on a funny movie or play w/ kitties.
