    Default Canned Veggies Question

I noticed in a sales circular for this week that one of the stores has store brand canned veggies on sake for $0.49. I don't usually buy canned veggies, but I'm pretty sure they're around $0.89 normally. Am I right? Should I go stock up or is it not a good deal?

In our area that is a fair price. It is a price I would considering stocking up on.

I have not seen canned veggies of any kind or brand around here for less than $0.50 a can.

Around here, anything under $.50 is a deal!

Aldi's price for me is .49 a can. So I feel that is a good price.

If you never buy them/never plan on using them don't buy them. If you are trying to build an emergency stockpile and are sure you'll use them if 'push comes to shove' (or if you'd like to donate to a food pantry) then buy them.

I'd buy a can or two to taste first. No use on stocking up on something so dreadful you wouldn't want to choke them down even in an emergency (though I guess when you are super hungry ANYTHING tastes better than nothing)

Thanks xtena. I do buy canned veggies usually when a recipe calls for them. When that's the case, I have to go out and buy them, and usually end up paying the price. I figure it might be nice to stock up on a few, but I definitely wouldn't buy a ton. I prefer fresh to canned, so that is what I usually buy.

That's a decent price unless anyone is lucky enough to find the case sales 4/$1 again (highly doubt I'll be seeing that kind of sale again!). I can most of my veggies myself anyway.

Freebs -- I'm across the border in Shreveport and saw the 3/.99 too. I imagine it's the same store. Stock up time indeed - I was wondering if we'd ever see that again. And Walmart's going to be doing some matching too! I'm really low on canned vegetables.

Otherwise, I think .49 is, unfortunately, a pretty decent price.

For around here that's a great price, .89-1.09 here, store brand might be .79. The only thing I buy in cans are beets, black olives and assorted beans. We're on low sodium diets, so have to be careful.

Freebs -- there are two Super 1's. One on Shreveport-Barksdale Hwy (not far from me) and one somewhere else. I've never been to that one. They have some great sales all around. I'm glad I live close to them again.
