Default Our current bread usage is down too

6 loaves since July 7. Yeaaaaa. We have run into some problems such as my son hiding a loaf of bread under his bed and not liking some of the new choices but variety is good.

    We have tried
lettuce wraps: kids hate hubby loaves

tortilla wraps: son and hubby loves daughter hates

chef boyordee: everyone loves but me. It is so expensive and unhealthy

Today for a quarter I picked up a bread slicer at a yard sale so I am going to attempt to make some home made bread again and see what happens since I can slice it thinner.

Luckly health wise I am not too worried about the bread addiction all are perfect weight for their hieght. Plus we are extreemly active in the summer.Since the 7th we have spent 6 days at the lake all day and then riding the bikes up and down all the hilly roads around our house. So all that gunk they burn right off.

With salad we belong to the CSA so we have salad or salad fixings through out the day along with fruits. So all in all their diet is very balanced. Yes it is off the perimid but I think the pyrimid is messed up any way. I followed it to a t for myself for 6mths and ended up gaining 15lbs. ewwwwwwwww. Now I am trying to lose 20 lbs not related to those 15lbs and despite every diet change I only gain weight. But thats another story for another day

    Good for you! :perfect:
Inlaws only use one slice of bread for lunch. They use a nice piece of lettuce in place of the top piece of bread. Saves calories & money.

Had a good laugh about your son hiding a loaf of bread. He must really like his bread!

It sounds like you've done a great job cutting down the bread consumption and are saving some money. Good for you! LOL about your DS hiding the loaf of bread.

You could always try, if some members of your family are still having a fetish with bread, switching to a whole wheat variety or even potato bread (yum!). I'm glad that your son and husband like the tortilla wraps. I usually make mine with turkey or ham, then add in lettuce and tomato and some shredded cheese, then top that off with some low fat italian dressing. It's pretty delicious with a salad.

I just never understood why people have such a problem with white bread. I grew up eating it and I haven't died yet, plus I'm far from overweight and I still eat it. I'm actually underweight for my height. My youngest hates eating bread but will devour tortilla wraps and pita pockets. You guys can also try making stuff with pita pockets if your daughter hates the tortilla wraps. You can stuff them with cubed chicken, feta cheese and some fancy dressing.

RE: tortillas...have you tried making your own? I posted a recipe for homemade tortillas a few days ago. They're delicious and taste SO much better than store-bought. I don't really care for the ones from the store, but I love the ones I made
