I actually did plant some, I had part of a bag of russets and part of a bag of red potatoes that had sprouted, so I cut them up and planted them. Looks like there's probably at least 30-40 ibs out there from what I've seen (their popping up out of the ground).

Holy Moly, that is expenseive. Our walmart had them for 7.59 a 10# bag last Saturday. I about fell over at that. I can't imagine $17+ for 20 lbs. Sheesh!
Thankfully I planted a bunch this year and they look to be doing really well. Fingers crossed....

She lives in Cozad, Nebraska. Very small little dinky town with 2 overpriced grocery stores.

Ouch...for that price they would have to stay on the shelf and rot.

Yikes!

Makes you rethink doing the whole low-carb diet thing! LOL
It's a good thing we don't eat that many potatoes around our house. In fact, I think I have a 5 lb. bag in my 'tater bin right now that might be sprouting...maybe I should plant them and sell them!

Since I live alone and don't eat potatoes "that" often, I've decided to go the instant potatoes route.
For me it's less waste [instant doesn't go bad!] and also cheaper in price.

I just paid $3.49 for a 10# bag of russet potatoes and thought I did good. I wish DH and I had a better spot for a garden so I could plant my own potatoes. We live in Marble Hill which defines our land perfectly. Its all rocks, from marble size to boulders! lol
