Bought one last year A Kenmore for $169 at KMart. Absolutely Love it, one of the best investments I ever made!

When I was researching them sometime ago, I learned that all freezers, regardless of brand are made by two or three companies. I would check the energy guide, but most comparable freezers are going to be about the same. Given an in-the-ballpark with all the rest on energy efficiency, I would just go with the best deal.

I too have Kenmore, and have had them in the past, and have never had a bit of trouble with any of them. You know how often Sears puts everything on sale, so check that out in your comparison shopping.

Thanks for this thread. We've been looking at buying a smaller chest freezer secondhand over the internet (Full Circles, Kijiji). I've been wondering how to handle the energuide business. When we windowshopped in the stores, we noticed similar sizes were very similar in energuide ratings. This confirms it.
