    Default Little grocery shopping victory...

I just wanted to share about my grocery shopping trip yesterday. I am a Costco shopper normally because our local grocery store is super-expensive, but sometimes certain items in the sale flier catch my eye. Normally I would go in for the sale items and pick up other things just because and end up with no real savings at all.

Yesterday I went with a strategy, and I think I did really well. Saw some good coupons for produce - a whole watermelon for $2.50, a head of iceberg lettuce for .50, and a 2# bag of whole shrimp for $3.99. On top of that boneless skinless chicken breasts were selling for $1.99lb, and there was a coupon for "get $10 off of minimum purchase of $50." I checked Costco prices for BS chicken breasts, and they are $2.30lb, so I thought I could stock up on the sale chicken. I added my purchases up as I went so I wouldn't go way over $50, and I walked out of the store with six value packs of chicken, my sale produce plus onions and grapes, some sale pasta, half and half for my coffee, hamburger buns, and 2 containers of ice cream (BOGO), and my end bill was $52.71, down from the original amount of about $104.

When the checker told me I had saved $51.64, I had to really restrain myself from doing a happy dance right then and there.

Thank you! I was so giddy when I got home that I told my husband all about it and today showed my mom my receipt and my freezer. LOL I was telling my hubby that now it's getting fun to figure out ways to beat the system.
