    Default 12-pack of hamburger buns....2.98?!

Pop was also 3.77 per 12-pack fridge box.

One bright note: I did get 2lb of strawberry for 3.58....so I bought 6lbs.

Ouch. Are there not bakery thrift or discount stores in Calgary? I know we have a McGavin's Discount Bakery here. Maybe check the Yellow Pages and see what you can find under bakeries.

I gave up pop years ago. i couldn't stand the prices then, let alone now!

Fruit is in season right now. Blueberries, pears and plums are cheap. So are nectarines right now...for us at least. Way to go on the strawberries!

Walgreens you can get 3 12 packs of pepsi for 9.96.. and with the coupon another FREE 12 pack.. making it 4 for 9.96, little cheaper!

I need to hit the strawberry stands, I have an 18 month old who will eat pound after pound if I let her!

Yep, I have about 12 pounds of blueberries sitting in my freezer right now and these 6 pounds of strawberries will get some neighbors with the other 4 pounds I froze a month ago. I might check out the McGavin's discount bakery because even Old Mill white bread is getting expensive. I bought five loaves the last time I went shopping and it was 1.49 if you bought 5 but 1.79 if you bought less. I figured I'd rather have bread in the freezer for later on.

As soon as I can get a hold of some sparkling water, I might switch to that. I even thought of drinking those Crystal Light singles. If I need my caffeine fix, I can always have a pot of coffee.

We all eat them in pancakes too. I decided this year, I was going to make some pie or some muffins at least. I do love blueberry muffins. These blueberries are massive though, and both kids love eating them for snacks.

I usually buy the store/genaric brand. Food Lion has then for 99 cents for an 8 pack hamburger or hot dog buns.

The same store usually alternated between coke or pepsi products (12pks). 4 /$11 Sometimes 4/$10.

I am just astounded at the prices and how quickly they are going up up up! I just came from the store (Aldi) and I did not buy meat, just stock up stuff and spent $125.00!

Between gas and groceries, I don't know how people are going to manage. God help us all!

Food is always more expensive in Canada. Many a days that I'm on the village, I envy the food prices in the States...and the cool coupon thing.

I've started making my own hamburger buns and even put sesame seeds on them. Look up on the net the 40-minute homemade hamburger buns and there's another recipe for honey wheat buns on the Web MD site. When you put the seeds on them, wet your hand and dampen the top of the buns (before rising) and sprinkle the seeds on. They'll stay there on the bun more easily. We're having hamburger cookout tomorrow and I've made 20-something white and wheat buns. They are so much better than bought ones.
