    Default School supply triumph!

'Kay just had to share this with people who share my sickness and would understand.... This is back to school time and I swear those lists of supplies just keep getting longer and longer so every time I can save a cent here or there than yay for me!
My kids are required to bring 2 packages each of the small chisel point dry erase markers - they are just under $4 a package so I have to buy 4 at a total of $16. I just grit my teeth and do it but it irritates me. Well Staples had in their ad the same markers we use for .99 a package. So of course I am there bright and early to load up and I can't find them anywhere. Finally ask a clerk about them and if they are gone to see if I can get a raincheck. The clerk admits the ad was a mistake and they don't carry them. I was not impressed and she could tell I was irritated. So she talked to her manager and he told her to comp me the markers they had in stock at that price. Soooo instead of the 3-pack markers I got the regularly priced $4.99 4-pack for .99! I ordered 10 packs saving me $40. And now those markers have a place of honor in my school stockpile! Oh and I got the two bottles of FREE glue so I was feeling all sorts of frugal!
Ok I know it's stupid and you're probably thinking that you can't believe that I just went on and on about markers but it made my day! Thanks for humoring me!

Getting things cheap is always great! I'm impressed that you stood your ground with the flyer, sometimes I run up against a blank faced employee and give up. But as your marker deal has proven - its pays to stick to your "frugal" guns!

Good for you! Glad you asked and they honored the deal! I just love Staples! I have been able to find everything in the ads so far. I have gotten 10 free folders, 4 free bottles of glue, and lots of stuff for really cheap, like packs of paper for 9 cents! I almost feel guilty walking out of there paying next to nothing ~ I said ALMOST!

I don't think it's silly at all! Any time you can get a good deal in this day and age it's worth celebrating! Congrats!

No way is that stupid. You went there BECAUSE of the ad. Someone goofed up so they need to fix it otherwise it is false advertising and they lose business that way.

That is a great bargain!! I know those dry erase markers are overpriced in my book, so getting a 4pk. at .99 cents is great. You had a great frugal day!

I listed all of my school supply deals in another thread a few days ago. If you have a sickness, so do I, LOL.

Good for sticking up for yourself. Money is so much nicer in our pockets then theirs.

Good job for making them honor their ad. Stores need to be held accountable to that because there's nothing more frustrating than making a special trip to be told, "Sorry, that was a mistake." Not only is it a waste of time and gas, but the mental anguish of a penny pincher not getting her "deal" is just wrong!
