We are going to the Fair!
I just had to share some good news with every one.
Eevery year our state has the Ekka (short for exhibition) it is like a state fair sort of thing.
DSO likes to go every year and last year we were away on holidays so weren't able to go.
This year with our new found dedication to not spending any money we had decided not to go mostly because the tickets to get in are $22 each so that would be $44 just to get through the door.
He sucked it up and was very good about not going but I could tell that if I had relented and said that I was happy to spend the money that we would have been going in a heart beat (I will admit to feeling a little bit of guilt)
Well his parents called last night to say that I fried of their had just dropped over some free passes and as the rest of his family had already been to the show would we like to go?
He was soo excited last night (like a little kid) so that saves us $44 dollars and as there is so much free stuff to see we will give ourselves a small allowance for food and drinks and the whole day should cost less the $20.
It feels so good to be going and not to be spendin a heap of money to do so.
Now I truesly believe that once you make sensible decisions with you money that you just seem to find ways to do what you want that cost less!Debt 1 - Paid in Full (originally $750)

Congratulations! I volunteer at our city exhibition and not only get in free, but also get free meals in the volunteer lounge. I volunteer in home crafts where I demonstrate stitching. I've demonstrated other things in the past too. The volunteer's pass comes with a two or three free passes that I give to my family to get in. Oh, and a free parking pass!

peanut, that is an interesting Point - I am a public servant and our department has a stall each year, they are always asking for volunteers, next year I will look into doing that and we can go without paying - and I will get either a day off work to do it (paid of course) or if I volunteer on the week end I will get paid overtime instead.
Can't believe I didn't think of that this year.Debt 1 - Paid in Full (originally $750)

Missy, I think that the cost at the Gate is excessive - I do realise that it costs money to put the show on - but even so $22 for each adult seems excessive to me. with the kiddos costing $13 each how does any family afford to go? I guess they just use the CC that week to buy groceries.
There are a lot of displays to see for free like the horse events, wood chopping and the animals and crafts, but all of the food, rides and show bags cost big dollars.
Not this little black duck though we will eat our dawood dogs and get a starwberry icecream (charity) and then walk around and amuse ourselves with the free stuff.Debt 1 - Paid in Full (originally $750)

Have fun!

Ours is this week but it doesn't look like I'll be able to go.
Maybe next year though!
Love,
Jen
