I was curious about the borax because a couple years ago we had adopted cats from the shelter and they were flea infested, our vet told us to put borax on the carpet to kill any fleas that would pop up, but to vacuum it up good because it can be harmful -that's what got me to thinking about how safe it would be on skin while washing lol, but I will wear gloves for sure, thanks

My mom gets terrible poison ivy and used to use Fels Naptha on it to make it better. Not sure where that fits in here...

This is a great thread. I am very interested in getting in my pioneer spirit. I can't wait to get into my own home and be able to implement some of these amazing ideas.

Tonight I made 12 - 1 cup jars of green(unripe) jelly. I'll be making almost the same amount again tomorrow. I'm hoping it sets..lol. I didn't use pectin, as apples to have natural pectin, especially unripe.

I also have made a few decisions in regards to the yard. I'm going to take an edible landscaping class ($5) and am getting a consult with a landscape designer, as our yard looks like heck. I'm budgeting for it. He's told me he has designed yards that are done in stages, so as the budget allows we improve the yard. We putting fruit trees in the front. I found out we can grow quite a variety of fruit here! I had NO idea. So if I"m going to have trees, they may as well provide us with something..lol

Cool! Now that would be fun.

I once made a quilt from a civil war period pattern.
