    Talking Harvesting soup and chili

It dawned on me that instead of "just" saving scraps for a "soup bucket" in the freezer... to actually mix up and freeze "soup mix" and "chili mix".

Kind of like when people chop up veggies to freeze for stir fry, but have a "base soup" and "base chili mix" ready to go... just throw in pot with broth and meat.

I was going to freeze individual items, but then thought it would be nice to have the mixes ready. We don't always like the taste of frozen cooked meat so I could add it in later. Plus you can add in whatever sale item you have to the "mix". So kind of like prepping meals ahead of time and freezing them... only a little more flexible and everyone might actually eat it.

Ooooh you could have a "casserole mix" ready to go too.... then add whatever you wanted to it!

    Ok so:

    Soup Mix

    Chili Mix

    Casserole Mix

Made with garden surplus, store/market deals, and sale items.

Now I need to write down what items I always put in each....

That is an inventive idea. I like it. We tend not to have too much in terms of leftovers these days since I'm cooking less and we eat less. I'll have to give it some thought as well.
