Default I've missed you guys ~ and your influence is wearing off!!

Phew!!! We've had a crazy couple of weeks, and it doesn't look to get any saner here in the near future. I haven't had a chance to even check in here really & I can tell a huge difference! Hanging out with my "normal" friends I keep getting the rolled eyes, the silly giggles, etc....when I talk about the mobile home that's been delivered (ITS HERE!!!!) or the great deal I found. I feel "different" around them, but here everyone gets me and knows exactly where I'm coming from when I talk about being frugal or about getting debt free.

    I've missed you guys!

BTW, if you want to see pictures of the mobile home being placed on our property, you can see them on my blog

    Welcome back, you've been missed!

So - catch me up here - the mobile home is temporary while you build, or what?
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Yup, we bought a 1983 mobile home (paid cash, thank you very much) and parked it on the property. We will live in that for about 18 months while go "gazelle intense" and pay off our debt. Our plans right now (stick around with us for a while and you'll realize our plans change more often than our underwear does! ) are to build a small guest house (there's a chance my mom will be moving this way in the next few years). We'll move into the guest house and get rid of the mobile home then build the main house.

If we stay gazelle intense, we should be debt free (minus the rental homes & piece of property) with 6 months expenses in about 18 months (we're shooting for sooner). We should then be able to build the guest house with cash. Sell the mobile home and then build the main house for cash as well. We'll then concentrate on getting the properties paid off. At that point, the income from our rental properties is almost enough for us to live on....if my quilting business (teaching at this point, hopefully to evolve it into more) takes off, that should hopefully make up the rest of our monthly budget and Angrypuppy can then quit his airline job and take his dream job (flying seaplanes).

PHEW....did you get all of that? (note to self ~ cut back on coffee...)

Got it. Good plan. What are you planning on building? Or have you gotten that far yet?

Sounds like you have a great plan. Good luck with everything. I start my FPU classes tomorrow night. Hopefully we will get as intense as you.

    Jessica,

I love reading about your life plans and watching them unfold. It is just as inspiring (if not more in some ways) to watch someone develop a simpler and frugal lifestyle who doesn't have to as it does to watch those trying to change their lifestyle out of desperation/necessity. I think it's because it helps us see that there are benefits to frugality which extend much further than whether or not we are going to go bankrupt or be out on the street tomorrow.

You seem to be enjoying your journey and your pride shows all warm and fuzzy. I hope I do as well with my future.

Wow...it sounds like a great plan. I wish I could talk my husband into moving into a (paid for!) trailer. I think we could reach our financial goals much more quickly if we'd do something similar.

It's nice to have you back with us!
