    Default for now

I am obsessed with reading about frugality, but... I don't do everything I could frugal-wise. I do what is comfortable for us for now. We are not in a dire situation.
The kick I get out of reading about frugality is that IF the need ever came up I have the Knowledge of how to be ultra-frugal and that gives me a feeling of empowerment!

My DH and I do the same thing. We aren't hard core yet, but have most of the know how if needs change.

I'm like you, I surely don't do everything I could to cut costs to the bare bones (like I use my dryer 99% of the time) but I know what to do if I needed to .Good to be prepared.

Same here. I love gathering info on frugality, but I do not do everything I possibly can to cut costs. There are some things I just can't bring myself to do, but if I really had to go into a deep frugal mode I would have the knowledge of what to do.

I am like that. I love to read about frugality. Some of it is stuff is "too far" for me, but I am also not in a place that in need to do guerilla (sp?) frugalness. Though, if the prices keep going up, I might need to.

I'm glad some people feel like me, hehe. I'm far less frugal than most here, but I'm much more disciplined and attentive now than 8 months ago and I'm quite glad. For example I stockpile on some stuff, I buy less clothes, and less and less from on line stores.
It's amazing to discover you could stop buying almost everything at once! I used to feel the need to "upgrade" my wardrobe constantly, while I have lots of nice stuff already...

I'm that way. There is no way that I could routine every single frugal thing into our lives, so I go with what I can handle for now. I can deal with decreasing the food budget and increasing the stockpile, doing a budget and putting money into savings. Those four things are enough to keep me occupied and not drive me up the wall. My biggest frugal thing to start on next: organization of my entire house.

I am the same way. We are far from super frugal but if we need to be I would know what to do. I love reading about being frugal and saving money.

I guess by some people's standards I would be hard core frugal. But I've met and heard of more frugal people in my life. They are an inspiration for the most part. But truth be told, I don't think deprivation frugality is the mode I want to be in. I like the idea of being frugal in certain areas to afford luxuries in others. But all the reading and boards give me lots of ideas on how to be more frugal, should I need it...

I have to agree. I really love learning about being frugal. I definately am not hardcore about it. However I do know I feel less deprived by being frugal.

I am a frugal work-in-progress. Like you, have been reading and reading and reading. And learning, learning, learning.

Have also learned so much from the ladies and gentlemen here at FV over the past year - things that I have put into place little by little.

It has been a source of amazement to me how much richer my life can be when I slow down, live frugally, and think before making any purchase (big or small).

I have still be spending, though, and am ready to enter into a more serious frugality - not to be confused with deprivation - just serious thought about all of my daily choices.

The awareness gained by the reading and discussions is invaluable.

    Thanks!!
    Jen

We are forced into frugality. It's really not bad and I don't think (if things ever improve) will will go back to the way we were a LONG time ago. I will continue to garden - it's going to be bigger next year. I will continue to coupon - it's a game for me.

It's good to know that you can deal if things get worse. Maybe you could put some of the things into practice right now and get some extra money saved.

That's just it, we do quite a few frugal things and are pretty good financially. We have money saved, house paid off, etc. It 's just knowing that if circumstances ever became dire, I know more frugal ways I could employ and that makes me feel empowered.
