Default BIG BIG BIG change of plans around here

So, you followed our house for sale saga....you've seen pictures of the mobile home that we moved onto the property and some of you have probably even read the details of our budget and debt snowball ~ and now its all for nothing!!!

We are running into problems with our septic design (wasn't designed properly to begin with), we failed our first county inspection (mobile home wasn't far enough from the crest of the hill...it was 38 ft, they wanted it to be 40 ft ~ just another argument against big gov't...seriously, why do they care?)

So, all of this can be taken care of, but not in time for us to get out of the house by Oct 1 (which is when our renter's lease begins).

Angrypuppy and I have been racking our brains nonstop trying to figure out a solution and we've decided that we are probably going to break the lease and just stay here. We'll get the mobile home fixed up and probably rent that out, instead of this place. With the restrictions of where the home can be placed, the lot really doesn't even work all that well anymore for what we had planned for it (the log home, big garden, a few chickens).

It'll actually bring in a decent amount of money as a rental and since we paid cash for the mobile home, the only payment is for the land and rent should handle that without a problem.

The biggest hurdle is that school starts on WED and with Monday being a holiday I have only TUESDAY to get DS1 school switched and prepare him for Kindergarten at this other school, instead of the one we've visited and talked about all summer.......AAAGGGGHHH!!!!

Oh no! I know you were so excited about the land and building your log home on it. I am sorry it didn't work out the way you had planned, but at least it sounds like you are coming up with a back-up plan.

    I wish you the best!

Thanks...we'll still build our log home ~ that's not something either of us are willing to give up. We'll just find another piece of property after we've completed our debt snowball and have our EF properly funded....

I hate it when big plans fall through. I'm glad you have a viable Plan B, but what a disappointment. I hope your dreams aren't too long delayed.

Ya know, I would appeal their decision on the placement of the mobile home. Alot of times you can appeal these things and they will give you a variance! Sorry things are not going well! ((((hugs))))

    I am so sorry .
We had something very similar happen to us. We bought land and when it came time to build the only place they would let us put a house was right at the road. And I mean no room for a driveway right at the road. And it could only be something like 800 square feet. Thanks but not thanks.

Don't give up , rent out the trailer and earn some money off of it. Save for your cabin.
    Big hugs.

Oh no! Sorry to hear of your issues.... that damn Murphy!

I agree with trying to get a variance..we had to do that to have our gazeebo stay. It was a bit of a pain but much easier than having it moved. Who would have thought you can't put what you want where you want on your own property! You could do it for both the mobile home and the placement of your house.

I'm not sure of the distance from one place to the other.... and with plans up in the air... since you own property in that district could he still attend?

    Good luck..

I'm sorry to hear about your town/county giving you problems. My in-laws had problems similar to yours.

Good luck and sometimes we all have to change plans in the middle.

Oh NO! I'm so sorry to hear this. What a pita to find out now!

You're lucky that you don't have to move out of the current house and Plan B sounds very good for saving for the future.

Oh, ---I'm sorry your plans fell through (for now). I was excited for you, as we have a log home too. We started on it when we were 42 and are now both 54, and able to retire and live in it. Hope yours is sooner than you think it will be!
