Re-cycling CP innards...
Our crockpot heating element went on the fritz. The repair guys said to pitch it and buy a new CP. So we pitched the outside, but I couldn't bring myself to pitch the gorgeous pottery liner and glass lid. Can I use those in the regular oven? I'd love to have an excuse to keep it. But if I can't use it, I don't want the clutter in the house.

Mine had a crack in it that leaked so I drilled holes in the bottom and used it as a planter. I don't know what degree of heat it can withstand so don't know if you can put it in the oven.

this would have to be researched, but just a guess, the crock and plastic handled lid could not go in the regular oven. a crock pot goes slightly higher than 212 degrees fahrenheit, 100 degrees celsius, just slightly above boiling.
i would grow nervous above 250 deg F. please research carefully11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Nope but you could use it for a salad bowl or transporting something to a potluck. Or a serving dish.

There's no plastic on this...it's all crockery and glass. But your comments sure bear thinking about. I wondered what the temperature was in a CP. It depends what the glaze is on the pottery I suppose...maybe I'll just toss it...or use it for a plant! Good idea there too!

You should check out ebay or something, you might be able to find the outside part. I'm sure there's got to be people out there who have cracked the crockery and are getting rid of the outside. Then you wouldn't have to get rid of it and you wouldn't have to buy a whole new one, either

janelane: just checked e-bay...only complete crock-pots there. But my, what wonderful pricing! I'm thinking I should have kept all three crock-pots we got for wedding presents. I would be on the third one now... something to think about...stockpiling small appliances!LOL

We have 3 normal size crockpots and one mini. 2 of ours are large ones and the 3rd is a smaller one that would serve like 2 people.
I always want to buy more but Dh says 3 is enough.
