Kid Fun for the Frugal Adult
Maybe I'm just easily entertained, but, considering a lot of kidsstuff seems less expensive than adultstuff, I wonder if anyone does these kinds of things for entertainment?
I could spend hours coloring. I have crayons and my own coloring books. I have played hide and seek with nothing but adults. Squirt gun battles and running through the sprinklers, with grown ups. Catching lightening bugs on my own. Making paper hats and crafts. Blowing bubbles for the cats. I have dolls that I make up stories for (that one might seem over the top, but I promise almost every grown up on my doll boards does this, too, lol)
I'm very much a five year old at heart and these kinds of things really keep me busy, and they're full of nostalgia. There are no kids here, either, just me and DH.
So does anyone else appreciate the frugal fun being a kid again?

Yes! In recent years I got sucked into the group of friends that just sits and chats while everyone else has fun, like swimming, playing games, etc. It's the mom group, they're pretty, they don't want to get messed up. Well, FINALLY I decided to say "screw this, I wanna play" and I've had so much more fun this summer. I got over the self-consciousness of being in a bathing suit (no one vomited) and being bad at sports. I know that's not exactly what you are talking about, but your post reminded me that it's ok to have fun.
